First bout of norovirus happening right now. A loft bed seems like a good decision until it gets covered in puke. Luckily it was just his bedding but... ugh.

Ugh, that’s the absolute worst! I hope he feels better really quickly and the rest of the household avoids it!
I’ll never forget when I was about 8 and we had that. I had the bottom bunk, my sister was on top. I got sick first. My mom got me cleaned up, put on fresh bedding, got back to bed then my sister got it and got both of our beds. Not fun at all!

Ugh! So sorry. My younger DS is a barfer and has a lofted bed. He barfed all over it (and all over me) when he had Covid. Cleaning that was the worst.
YAY formerlyak! I still remember the moment I got into my first choice. I started packing. My parents were like "we haven't discussed this yet. Lets see how much money the state school gives you" and I was boxing up my shit. In January. LOL
Not to brag...but Shorti has puked so many times now that she now instinctively makes a little blanket bowl in her lap and just freezes with the puke neatly contained when she gets sick in the middle of the night with no warning. And then she just calls me with the saddest most plaintive little "mom?" you ever did hear. If I set her up with a puke receptacle in her bed she never misses now. And she's an insanely sound sleeper, so it's just 100% trained muscle memory instinct.
DUBIOUS ACCOMPLISHMENTS.
I'm so tired of germs. Did you know strep can cause noro level symptoms? NEITHER DID I.

No, but I'm here to chime in that strep is the absolute worst. I had never had it myself until March 21, 2020 and it was awful even without noro-like symptoms. Not to mention, I can't even figure out how the fuck I got it when we were locked down for a whole week by that point and no one else in my family had it. My sister gets strep all the time, I don't know how she handles it because I had it once and felt worse than ever. Her doctor is suggesting she get her tonsils out but she said she'd rather keep dealing with strep than get her tonsils out as a 36-year-old. *shudders*

Our daughter started daycare this week and she’s doing great (as expected! She’s very chill). She seems tired cause she’s used to sleeping 9-9 and now we have to wake her up at 8 to leave by 8:30 to walk her there, and she only naps for 45 min at a time once or twice a day, but I’m sure she’ll get used to it.
I also took off work this week since we were on vacation last week and I’m loving life haha. Today I’m working out with my trainer during the day and tomorrow I have a facial and massage booked. Next Tuesday back at work is gonna be rough!
I know my mom is going to want to have a first bday party, but I really don’t want to plan anything, I have enough stuff to think about. Plus I don’t want to pay for anything cause daycare is $3100/month so trying to be more thoughtful about spending!

We’ve had strep 5 times in the past year or so and it’s absolutely awful. The last time, about a month ago, my wife and I both had it and the baby didn’t even have it (he got swabbed even with no symptoms bc we were both positive and had bad cases.) We didn’t even consider strep that time bc of course if we had it he’d be the one to bring it home from daycare!? Who knows.

Sorry for those who are dealing with germ city. This time of year is brutal.
J turned 3 a couple weeks ago and his party day was no lie one of the best days of my life. He was so happy and I was so happy and everyone had a great time. Ugh so many feelings.
That night, literally on his 3rd birthday he became a real 3 year old with big feelings and super clingy to me and it’s been a ride. I’ve done more parenting in the past 2 weeks than I did the prior 3 years combined and it’s hard yall. On the one hand I could be grateful he was so easy all the time, but on the other hand I’m very tired. He’s still so wonderful and I love him so much and overall he has a great personality for a toddler lol. He is peak snuggly too. ❤️
wawa my DS(7) has an overactive gag reflex and barfs whenever he gets any type of sickness. He's also a pro at getting the barf in a bowl or small area in the dark from a sound sleep.
Velar Fricative H had strep last June. No idea where it got it from. He WFH and hadn't been going anywhere. DS and I did not get it.
I'm sorry to everyone dealing with sick kids, especially puke bugs. They are my absolute kryptonite so *sympathy*
When do we get to the part where things settle down to pre-covid sickness levels? Last school year was all, "flu and noro and everything are surging because we're immune-vulnerable" after a couple years of reduced socializing and masking. But this year that doesn't apply because we (and our kids) were all sick af last winter. When does this settle down? Parents are not ok!

I've said this here before but when I had strep a few years ago and I felt like I was going to die. Hands down the worst I've ever felt.

So exciting formerlyak! Congrats! I have a 9th grader so we're a ways off but I know it will be here quickly. It's all so different now; I feel lost. Is this an "early decision" acceptance? I didn't even know that was a thing until a friend clued me in this summer. Or I guess not, since he has other applications? Why did he find out about this one now, and won't hear from the others until March? I'm trying to understand the process lol.

PDQ
This is totally AWish but I cannot get over J’s school photos from last month. I have NO idea how they got him to pose like this but it’s so so so funny and cute.
seeyalater52, I can't believe your kid is three! Holy crap time flies!
sunshineandpinot, It is not early decision or early action. It's a school that has rolling admissions. He did apply early action to three schools, so we will know those in January. I know what his top school is and it's a 50% acceptance rate, and his stats are fantastic (not biased - they really are based on quantifiable measures), but they favor in-state (as they should) so I don't know. He's already told me if he gets in there, he will SIR the day we find out.
icedcoffee, that was me when I got in to UCLA. I hope DS finds someplace he is this excited about when he makes his decision.
To everyone with barfy kids, Amazon sells these great barf bags that are like little lined trash bags with drawstrings. They are a wonderful investment! DS has one in the pocket by his bed and one in the pockets in the car by his seat. He's had to use them because of motion sickness on many occasions. He is really good about going to the toilet or barfing in a bag, but the Covid barf took him by surprise.

Granted, it's nothing compared to college admissions or even high school admissions, but middle school applications open up for DD1 next week. What in the freaking hell is going on? She just turned 10 a few days ago and now I have to think about middle school, omg. Granted, we're zoned for a school that will work well for us so it won't be a difficult process at all, I'm just shocked we're already up to that process in our lives right now.
Noro is my kryptonite as well as an emetophobe. I am sad to report I may have passed those germ anxieties to my DD. It got really bad this summer, but I think my working with her on when/how the germs work has helped.

We have the hospital kind in all our cars. The kid has been a puker before.

Honestly, I feel like this is where things always were. We just forgot during the year or two when isolation and then masking dropped down infectious disease rates.
