It's amazing. The age range is technically Middle School (and the protagonist is a 13 year old boy), but a review I read said that it's for kids the way Shel Silverstein or Dr. Seuss is for kids. There's the "kid" aspect and then there's the universal themes aspect.
I rarely cry when reading books, and I sobbed like a baby for the last 30 pages or so.
It's a really quick read - 215 pages, but I read it in a few hours, max. I started and finished it yesterday. I couldn't put it down.

I actually saw this book at B&N last night and almost bought it. Now I'm mad at myself for putting it back! I'll have to check the library to see if they have it.
