I don't have the app and I haven't logged on to my personal account in months.
I do however manage the Twitter for the organization I work for. We'd really like to move away from it but haven't found an alternative that people are using as part of the professional world (medical subspecialty). I'm annoyed whenever I have to spend time coming up with content both because he's terrible and because we have a lot less engagement than in the past so it feels like a waste of time.
Nope. In theory my account still exists, but I deleted it from my phone and if I do click an email notification it almost always fails to load anyway. I also hate that two-step verification is now a premium benefit because I constantly get notifications when I’m not trying to login. 🫠 I was never a heavy user though, usually a few times a week.
No, but I didn't use Twitter much either so it's not a major change. I think in spring 2021 looking for vax appts was my period of greatest Twitter use, lol

No. I used to scroll it a lot. I got a lot of my news from twitter (from legit news sources) and I followed a lot of folks who would share good insights and information on topics that I wanted to learn more about but didn't quite know where/what to ask (LGBTQ issues, race relations, world events, etc).
Once Musk bought it I noticed it was turning to even more of a cess pool and I deleted the app shortly after. I'm embarrassed to admit it was affecting my mental health - I'd click on the app to kill some time and leave angry and moody. I don't regret it at all.
My usage has dropped like a rock. I check like once a month now.
Same here. I actually never got into Twitter until covid but have used it professionally for many years for state legislative advocacy work and tracking, especially local reporters. I rarely ever check it for non-work reasons (if someone sends me a link, or I see something in The Discourse out and about and I’m curious about the backstory, or if I see a reel or meme of a tweet that I want to chase down.) Otherwise the algorithm makes it too frustrating to even see the content I want to see.
For work it’s actually really frustrating because the platform is just too nonfunctional to be of any use and so many people have dropped off it so it’s less and less helpful and sadly there’s no replacement as of right now. It makes tracking bill testimony and smaller statehouse and political developments really tedious.
Same as seeyalater52, I use it for work and it has become really frustrating and nonfunctional (not getting notified when the work account is tagged or quoted, being pushed random Musk content instead of relevant content from followers, fewer interactions when we post, etc).
I actually just had a meeting with people in the field though and asked if they had seen their colleagues move to other platforms like Mastodon or Threads, but they haven't. They all said that Twitter is still the best of the options, even with all of its problems.
I was never big on it for personal use to begin with, so no real change there.

No, but I didn't to begin with. I tried getting into it a few times over the years and just never understood how to use it or felt like I got anything out of it even before the takeover.
I find it difficult not to at times between work and that many local groups, business and agencies use it for notifications. Everything is so scattered now, I keep finding out about things like trash pick up and road closures there before it makes it onto the city site.
I did for a while after he bought it but finally decided to delete the app. I thought I'd use threads or spoutible (spoutable?) but have just stopped altogether.
I deleted my account not too long ago. I'm finding though that some services I use don't use anything but Twitter (like local traffic alerts) so that's annoying, but not enough to use Twitter again.
I said yes because I recently started using the web browser because a bunch of things that I need to follow for my family members primarily use it. I am annoyed by it, but its the only way I get updates and news from those groups. I check it once a day.
Before this year, I hadn't used it since probably 2009.
ETA: I don't post or retweet(?) anything.
@@@ Sports related. It seems that most older kids have an account for recruiting purposes. I've seen some as young as 7th grade.
Do I have an account - yes Do I scroll through trending topics every once in a while when I'm extremely bored with the rest of the internet but don't want to put down my phone? yes Do I post? no

Once they took away my blue check mark, I deleted the app in protest.
I was never a huge user, although I had a good number of followers. I’m not too broken up about its demise.
People will say there are no competitors but it’s a chicken and egg thing. The underlying technology is not that hard to replicate. It’s always been a numbers game though. If everyone migrated over to somewhere else, boom, no one would need X. The fact that people are still using it says more about the clout/scale of social media companies than it does about X.
Unfortunately yes. The official update for the interstate I drive everyday is only available on Twitter so I will check it when I'm stuck in traffic. I am hoping they will move to something else since it's a State agency. I don't post or interact with posts however. I never liked the way it was organized or set up.

I've hardly ever posted, but I do still scroll through it. I follow a smattering of artists, journalists, scientists/doctors, and industry leaders for my line of work.
No, but I never really got into it. I didn't like the format and found it overwhelming to just scroll through without a specific purpose. I did try at a few different points but always quickly would lose interest and forget to ever look at it.
I still have an account, but my usage has tanked. I use it for work - like my bio is about my professional credentials and employer, and I use it for networking, advocacy and ear to the ground stuff, not like I manage a corporate account. But omg it sucks now. I need to ask my big boss who was a HUUUUUUGE tweeter (and is still there) if he's on one of the others yet and jump. I figure if he switches that's a good bellwether for where the rest of my industry is at.
It's so annoying because I made an effort to figure it out several years ago and it was super useful for my lil niche. I met people at conferences and got to be like, "ah yes, I know you from the twitters! Loved your take on [insert topic here]" and then we'd bond over something other than conference chicken. BUT NO.
Yes, mostly for figure skating Twitter, which is still mostly concentrated on there as opposed to the alternative platforms. I'm trying to shift over to Bluesky more often now, as that seems to be where the bulk of the people I follow are starting to pop up.

That's using, lol! Just browsing gives post impressions and interaction numbers.
