Yup, still in Congress lol. However, it just goes to show elected officials understand Americans’ collective memories are so short - they knew the initial scandal would blow over soon enough, and it did. This probably will too.

It's not that we forgot. The wheels of justice move very slow though I don't think they were even turned in this case as the Republicans just let him stay. Ethics schmethics.

Can we please pass some laws so representatives are held accountable to voters?!! I know he’s not been convicted of anything yet but we can’t rely on past norms or integrity of anyone in the R party, and haven’t been able to for years. Let’s at least stop literal criminals from staying in power and having no consequences for their actions (👀 Texas state legislature too).

Something I heard on NPR about Bob Menendez is probably relevant here - he might use resignation in his plea deal. If he resigns he loses a lot of protection and legal leverage.
