Oooh, I assume she's cooperating since no jail time which will hopefully be bad for Dump?
And LOL to this part.
She was also fined $6,000 and agreed to pay $2,700 restitution to the State of Georgia, as well as write an apology letter “to the citizens of the state of Georgia.”
Someday, in the future, this sorted saga of history is going to be written down and read by future generations (if we avoid crashing into a second dark ages, I digress). And those readers are not going to grasps how long and drawn-out it’s been to witness those god-awful “news conferences” … to this plea deal. I am gratified that she has been legally squashed and will be used to testify against others. But dear lord that woman was a lunatic working for the president of the United States to illegally overturn an election with outrageous lies and a huge microphone.

I really think these people need jail time. This was fucking serious! Even 6 months. I mean, I’m glad she’ll testify and all, but she was a big player and greatly contributed to the distrust of elections for tens of millions of people.

I'm hoping it's a good read, but wouldn't be surprised if it's more along the lines of "I'm sorry I got caught."

Many may deserve jail, but I think it's a valid pragmatic question to ask if it's worth letting them go free to catch someone far more dangerous.

Well of course. However, I think the case is a pretty strong one as is. I think she would have been convicted easily and gotten at least 5 years. Let her plead out and testify but sentence her to at least some jail time. I don’t think a slap on the wrist is appropriate for her or some of the other defendants.

I'm not a lawyer so feel free to correct me if this isn't how it works, but I was assuming she wouldn't agree to a deal to testify unless she didn't have to go to jail. In other words, I am assuming the defendant gets to negotiate within the deal, and if the state thinks her testimony is important enough they may age to a distasteful bargain like no jail time.

I worry they are going to let too many little and midsized fish go in an attempt to get big fish and the big white whale and they all slip away.

Yes, I agree! I know we all want 45 in jail, but these other defendants committed serious crimes and need to pay for that.
I just need Trump in jail. he stands a very good chance at winning 2024, since loads of dems no longer support Biden.
Where do you get that? I hope not from skewed polls?
I don't see waning support from Dems at all, I'm seeing lots of Gen Z being fired up because of their rights being taken away. If anything, I think there will be more people voting for Biden than in 2020.

from dems I know, IRL and from social media, saying they won't vote for Biden at all because of how he's handled things with Israel. I see tons of young people angry at him, and influencers are saying they won't vote for him.

So people won't vote for him because of how he's handled Israel but they would vote for Trump who wanted to ban all Muslims from coming into the US. Got it.

I know this isn’t your logic but this really pisses me off. Do I agree with him on how he handles 100% of the things - no absolutely not, and unless I personally was president I will never agree with anyone on 100%. However given that the alternative is likely going to be Trump they need to suck it up and get out a vote for Biden. People not voting for Hilary for similar reasons is why Trump won in 2016.

we are never going to agree 100% with any president, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't vote for them. this is what got us into trouble in the first place

Polls aren't necessarily predictive of the future, especially this far out, but current polling has Trump leading Biden in swing states that will likely determine the 2024 election, which is concerning to say the least.
Former President Trump holds a narrow lead over President Biden among voters in seven key battleground states that will likely determine the 2024 election, according to a poll released Thursday.
A Bloomberg/Morning Consult poll of voters from Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin found Trump leading Biden by 4 percentage points, thanks largely to negative views around Biden’s handling of the economy.
So with Sidney Powell, how does attorney-client privilege come into play? Can she only testify against co-defendants other than Trump because she represented him?

There are exceptions, like if the client tried to get their attorney to do something illegal

I’m not sure but I don’t think she was acting as his lawyer. One test of whether she was working for him as a lawyer and not just a campaign worker who happened to be a lawyer is if he had paid for her services as a lawyer with a retainer for legal services. LOL, ha ha ha ha!!!!!!

I’m guessing they didn’t vote for him last time around either.
I can assure you that the younger generation that I know would vote for a ham over Trump.

There is no privilege if a 3rd party (person) is present ( so aalllllll the meetings) and conversations in furtherance of a crime - so, all the charges.

It's entirely plausible that he thinks he hired her and also never paid. I love that!
I have a question about the 3rd party bit. What if it's another person in the same firm advising on the case? The hiring is of the firm, not individual, right? So 3rd party would be a civilian, for lack of a better word?

It's called the crime/fraud exception.
If you're using your attorney to commit your crimes, it's not privileged.

If I as an attorney have a conversation with my client, and an associate from my firm is present, it's still privileged because the associate is also bound by the same attorney client privilege. But if I have the same conversation, and the client's non-attorney bail bondsman, real estate agent, marketing firm, PR firm, 'fixer', or other outside professional/consultant is on the line or the email chain, *poof* goes the privilege. Non-attorney is key. Basically once one person with no attorney-client privilege obligation hears or reads it, privilege is irrevocably lost.
Depending on the nature of the conversation, this can happen pretty easily and accidentally. E.g. a trademark attorney needs to be careful about privileged advice that could be shared with an outside marketing firm/branding consultant/graphic designer, either by forwarded email, errant cc, or being on a call. Other areas of law have different pitfalls.
