That makes sense. But is it that all privilege goes poof? Or only about the specific information shared with that 3rd party?
The information disclosed to the non-attorney 3rd party is no longer privileged. Other information, not mentioned in that call/email/etc., may still be privileged.
from dems I know, IRL and from social media, saying they won't vote for Biden at all because of how he's handled things with Israel. I see tons of young people angry at him, and influencers are saying they won't vote for him.
I’m guessing they didn’t vote for him last time around either.
I can assure you that the younger generation that I know would vote for a ham over Trump.
I agree for most of them. But i could see them voting for a 3rd party not realizing that is exactly what could get Trump re-elected.
Also, regarding Powell, she never was paid by Trump so she never represented him as a lawyer.
To be fair, does anyone ever actually get paid by Trump? Is that how he gets away with so much? "I refused to pay them" = "They never worked for me?"
Possibly in other areas, but not in law, where the scope of the representation is defined prospectively in an engagement agreement that is typically signed by both the client and someone with signatory authority on behalf of the firm (e.g. a partner). The engagement often includes payment terms, but there's a lot of variability there. Sometimes a retainer is required up front, sometimes it's more of a fee for services rendered structure, with task-based or monthly billing, etc.
Generally speaking, nobody's taking a single step on behalf of a client without a signed engagement. Once you have a signed engagement, it's pretty hard to argue that lack of payment implies anything about the absence of an attorney-client relationship.
She plead guilty. Seems like a slap on the wrist. She got small fines, 5 years probation and censure but is not losing her CO law license. She’s supporting DeSantis which shows she she learned nothing and she raised a bunch of legal fund money so I feel zero sympathy for her tears in court.

Well, the generally, the bar association is the only one that can disbar her so that could be coming.

I’d feel much better about the weak sentencing if the lawyers on trial were disbarred. Will there be any future consequences if they are convicted of a felony? I have a different type of professional license and I have to report felonies (and maybe misdemeanors or pending charges) to the state when I renew my license every 2 years. If it’s related to my profession, like financial fraud to a client or forging / misrepresenting information to a city or state organization, I could lose my license. What do the lawyers on the board think?

I think she'll face disciplinary proceedings in CO. But GA doesn't have the authority over anything with her CO license.
I know people who have had consequences with the state bar over things like non-felony DUI so unless CO doesn't care about things like character and fitness (which I would be extremely surprised of they don't) she'll probably at least get her license suspended.

The CNN article mentions a Colorado judgement. I realized there’s a link to a more detailed article about it. It doesn’t sound like they were planning to disbar her but maybe they’ll reconsider after conviction?
“In unrelated disciplinary proceedings in Colorado, where Ellis is a practicing attorney, Ellis admitted that many of her post-election public statements were false, including her claim that the race was “stolen” from Trump. She was censured by a judge and agreed to pay $224, ending the misconduct probe.”

I'm just now reading the articles. Ellis, who smiled on her mugshot like she was in a glamour shot photo studio, stood in front of the judge and CRIED?!? What in the white woman tears is that?
To me, it’s a bit interesting* to see how the lunatic Rs spin the facts to support their narrative. It’s been gold metals all around for their mental gymnastics.
As recently as yesterday, on Twitter, Sydney Powell is STILL pushing claims that the 2020 election was rigged and prosecutors target conservatives. Her admissions of guilt? - extortion from the prosecutors. Her self-promoting & distributed newsletter is saying that she was “exhorted” by the prosecutor to plead guilty.
In the same spin, we should all feel badly for Jenna, for the same reasons. The very mean prosecutors “held her hostage” with financial ruin. We can expect a lot of “white knighting” around her. “Poor little Jenna. Let’s not be too hard on her folks.”
*By interesting - I mean outraged and motivated to set things on fire.
