DD is 10 and has not really been interested in her AG dolls and clothes for a little while (sob!). I've been putting off selling it, because it makes me sad. I kind of love them. LOL My parents never bought me any because they were too $$$$ so I probably lived a little vicariously through her.
But it's time to try to sell some of them. She has 3 dolls and I think we're going to sell two of them plus most of the clothes and accessories which are a mix of OG and AG stuff. Any tips on how to go about doing this? Would love to sell everything in one foul swoop but that is doubtful. I organized most of it. We have Courtney and Kira to sell.
Any advice on where to advertise? How to organize and price?
Everything is in decent condition but not perfect preserved.
I have sold a few things on my neighborhood FB buy/sell page. The market for AG stuff has really dried up though. I am hanging on to the rest of what we have for now.

as a mom on the younger end of the spectrum and who scours the secondary market, I can tell you the re-sell value is not super high. hard to say exactly what you'd get for a bundle but I'd expect somewhere between 200-300 for two dolls plus accessories unless you have anything super sought after by collectors. Facebook marketplace is the easiest because of no shipping or commisson fees. Outside of FB marketplace, Mercari and ebay are probably the most used platforms by collectors. You can bundle outfits and sell the dolls seperately. Neither Courtney or Kira will be super valuable since Courtney is still available in the store. Kira is sold out but only sold out within the past 6-ish months and was available for a long time before. I'd guess you could get about $60-70 per doll if they are in great condition.
Consignment is the easiest but will probably net you the least.
like you I never had my own AG dolls and have fallen a little too deep into the rabbit hole living vicariously through my daughter as well!!
Thanks for the tips. I don't care about getting too much $$$ for them. I mostly want to clear up the space and get a few dollars for them. I'll likely be pricing to sell.
We have tons of AG and some of my kids collect vintage stuff. For modern dolls, ie recent girls of the year or truly me, I’d probably try first bundling each doll with everything that was in her collection, and selling it on your local Facebook marketplace. Just look at what things are actually selling for on eBay as a guide, and/or, what people have listed in your local market. Then I would recommend definitely pricing lower than eBay if you want a quicker sale. At a quick glance, it does look like Kiras wildlife rescue orange wagon things seems to be a higher priced item.
OG items won’t sell for much other than some of the larger play sets. You may want to just bundle them with your other doll stuff as add-ons, or sell them separately. But I feel like people usually want to see the doll bundled with what came in her original collection, not all split up.
ETA: i’m sure you know this, but be very honest about body condition. Any marks, rips, etc. And take good pictures of the hair. If the hair is in great shape, and you are selling right before Christmas, I think you would do well. If the hair is really rough, and they’ve been played with a ton and look kind of ratty, you’ll have to sell pretty low.
I might be interested in some of your Kira stuff. My DD got her last year for Christmas when a lot of it was already sold out. I think there was a pink dress/romper outfit that we weren't able to get (and probably a lot of other stuff). Feel free to PM me if interested.
If it makes you happy, I'd just keep most or all of it though. I had a Molly doll as a kid and I still have all of it and now my daughter plays with her. You might have a grandchild that would like it eventually.
I've sold a lot of AG on Mercari. I have a lot more to sell and I plan to list it there. I may have a Mercari referral code that would give you $20 off (i guess like a $20 credit to buy stuff with?) for selling; I can look if you want. But if you feel attached to it, keep it for now! <3
If anyone has older historic collection items to sell, I have various random items on my kids’ wish lists )Kit’s original taffy candies that say Kit, Addy’s red quilt, Caroline’s nightgown).
There is an American Girl Resale for the US group that I use, too.
If anyone is looking for an American Girl doll for their kid this year and doesn’t need it to be brand new, that is a good place to look.

Is that your full wish list or are there other items you’re looking for?
I have done local FB groups, consignment (that is where I just dropped off all the remaining items), mercari, and the US FB page. If you're willing to ship, that's probably the best chance at making decent money. But fees and shipping definitely add up.
I sold a lot of my Kirsten stuff earlier this year or last year and that sold fast and for good money, but all the newer stuff sat.
Update to this I finally got around to selling this yesterday and it all sold very quickly. I listed around 230pm on facebook marketplace and everything was gone from my house by 730pm. I wonder if I priced too cheaply. lol
Courtney and accessories went for $40. Kira went for $60. Accessories and furniture went for $50. Other accessories and clothes mix of AG and OG went $60.
We ended up with $210 total which DD and I split.
I’m in Northern Virginia area and all were local pickups.
