Yeah the guy I saw on TikTok talking about it basically said there is a huge lake of lava underground and they're just waiting for it to erupt, but they don't know when. There's also a ton of earthquakes. Super scary.
I've been following this on TikTok. I'm really surprised it hasn't gotten more news coverage.
I've been seeing articles in the news about this since it started (2021 off and on). I guess it's all relative on what media you consume. Aka, just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean it's not there.

We were in Iceland this summer and missed the eruption then by three days. But that eruption was not close to any town or infrastructure. Most of the earthquakes are small enough that you don't feel them. Once they are over 4 on the Richter scale you can feel them, depending on how far away you are. We felt one of them when we were in Reykjavik and it felt like there was a washing machine on in the house that was shaking the house a bit. It definitely felt disconcerting but the Icelanders were used to it. I feel for the people of Grindavik and I hope their town will be spared from major upheaval and damage.
