Married to Jimmy Carter for 77 years. He entered hospice in February and was only expected to live a couple days. I hate to say it but I wonder if he will follow her quickly.

I don’t think that’s a bad thing to say or think. They’ve lived a wonderful life together and as he’s also in hospice it would not be surprising and I think it would be a wonderful end to a life lived and wonderful relationship.

Not bad to say. Hospice for almost a year is a long time. I watched my dad and brother die last year and I was struck by how much work the body does to shut down. I was very glad my dad was only on hospice two days and my brother passed a few hours into hospice care.

We tend to think of Jimmy as being ahead of his time with regard to things like energy, but Rosalynn was too given her advocacy for mental health support in the 1970s which...even without being born then I know was probably not spoken about or advocated for that much.
She lived an enviable, humanitarian life. We desperately need more people in government like her (I know she wasn't elected, but she made the Office of FLOTUS an actual office with funding and staff).
They are such an incredible couple. I truly believe Jimmy will let go soon now, too. I can't imagine them being apart for long. I wish more politicians - or anyone really - lived the way they did.
I read a sweet story how they were next door neighbors growing up and when Jimmy was 3, his mother helped deliver Rosalynn. Jimmy saw her a few hours after she was born. So she literally knew him her entire life.
