We've ordered this sectional for our basement, and due to room size/layout limitations, the short end will be opposite the TV. I
I probably can't do an ottoman and a coffee table, so I need something to serve double duty (i.e., no wood or glass - too uncomfortable). Do I need leather or does it work to do fabric-covered as long as it contrasts enough? The sectional manufacturer doesn't offer a matching ottoman.
We're doing some built-in bookshelves above cabinets, and the current plan is for the cabinet top to be natural with the remainder painted. I still need to select my flooring and wall colors, as well as accents. Any suggestions?
I've been eyeing this storage ottoman from Ikea, because I like the size and am really drawn to navy.
Something's holding me back. I really like navy with the sofa fabric, but I wonder if it's better in small does - like a pillow - instead of a large piece like this. There's no going back on the sofa color; we like it, and it's the darkest available without paying for an upgrade, which we weren't willing to do.
ETA: My sister recommended I try the Ikea ottoman in a dark gray instead. I think she's right, and then I can still use navy for a couple pillows or a throw blanket, etc.
I do still need to check the dimensions, because this is big.
I like the navy - I think you’d want to add a throw or a couple of pillows with some navy in them to tie it all together, though.
I’m not a fan of the grey ottoman; honestly I think it would be too much grey. If you don’t go with the navy I’d get a black one.
I think either fabric or leather/vinyl will work nicely, but I wouldn’t count on it doing double duty as a coffee table. Anything soft enough to rest your feet on likely won’t be firm enough for, say, putting drinks on. For that, I would add an end table (even small ones) or either end of the sofa.

I was thinking of doing a tray, but maybe that's still risky!
I really like the navy ottoman. And I think a tray will work great; in fact I was going to suggest it until I got to your last post. I have a friend who has done this and it’s cute and functional.
I really like the look of the long tray that goes over the sides that you posted. Do you have a link for that?

We have a large (40x40) ottoman with a tray on it and it works great. I would definiely recomment a tray with a higher edge (not the one you shoed upthread) because occasionally, if something will get knocked over, the spill will be contained. This happens not a tonne, but enough that I am happy to have the tray. Our ottoman is pretty soft though.

Such a good point. Do you happen to know where you got yours?

Mine was a gift and has our last name painted on it so unfortunately I can't help you there or really even show you a decent photo!
