DSs birthday party is this weekend. He's having 8 or 9 friends over and we were thinking of taking them over to some pickleball courts to play around for a bit so that they aren't just all in our house the entire night.
Any ideas on how to do a simple "tournament" to perhaps make it fun?
I also realize that it may just end up being the boys goofing off and running around -which is fine too. But DH and I thought we'd TRY to make it a little competitive (they all play sports - we know we can tap into their competitive side!)
I think I would just let them run around and play. I don't interfere at all in birthday parties anymore. Beforehand you can ask DS if he wants to do a competitive game or 2. If he says yes, then towards the end, you can ask if they want to do something more structured. I feel like an actual tournament might be too many games. It would be easier if you had 8 total players and played 2v2. So that is just 2 games, 3?. But if you have 10 players and play 1v1, then I feel like that is too many games or 9 players with that odd number would also be a lot of games.

How many courts will you have? I don't know anything about the rules or scoring in pickle ball. But you could do a quick game of first to 4 points or something. I'd either create the teams randomly (don't let them pick) or if you have an odd number you could rotate players through so their partner changes for each game.
