The final round of the Goodreads Choice Awards is now open. Which books have you read and which will be getting your vote? Any books that you think were overlooked?
I'm amused that they added a romantasy category this year but apparently they also removed some others like graphic novels and children's categories.

I do like that they added the romantasy category to keep them separate from other fantasy, but it was definitely created for Fourth Wing 😂 I didn't like that they got rid of other categories though! I was confused when I voted in the first round!
Nominees I've read: The Collected Regrets of Clover - Like the concept, didn't love it though Weyward - Just ok for me Love, Theoretically - Loved Yours Truly - Loved, and I also absolutely love Abby! Romantic Comedy - disliked quite a bit Fourth Wing - Liked a lot Hell Bent - Not bad, but I liked the first one better Ink Blood Sister Scribe - Liked but didn't love Pageboy - interesting story but terrible writing
Currently reading: Sword Catcher (audiobook) - so far enjoying, but I think my book might have skipped ahead or I missed some things The Adventures of Amani al-Sirafi - I like the way the story is told and I'm interested to see how things end up

I enjoyed all the finalists I've read: Fiction - Someone Else's Shoes Historical Fiction - The Wind Knows My Name, Lady Tan's Circle of Women Romance - Happy Place, Yours Truly Romantasy - Fourth Wing Sci Fi - The Light Pirate YA - The Brothers Hawthorne, Highly Suspicious and Unfairly Cute
I also have Pineapple Street ready to go, but haven't started it yet.
I've read quite a few but only in a couple of the categories.
Historical Fiction: Weyward and Did You Hear About Kitty Karr are both on my TBR list but I haven't actually read any of the finalists. That's unusual for this category!
Mystery and Thriller: I Have Some Questions for You is the only one I have read. It was fine, not sure it is award worthy. Not voting.
Romantasy: Again I have only read Fourth Wing and it was good but not necessarily award worthy. Assistant to the Villain and Hanging City are on my TBR list. Not voting.
Fantasy: I have read A Day of Fallen Night, The Fragile Threads of Power, Hell Bent, Starling House, and The Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi. The Unmaking of June Farrow and Tess of the Emerald Sea are on my TBR list. This is a hard one but I am voting for Starling House.
Science Fiction: I've read Starter Villain, The Light Pirate, and The Ferryman. Starter Villain was more fun but Light Pirate has really stuck with me so it gets my vote.
Horror: Another hard one! I've read A House with Good Bones, Silver Nitrate, Vampires of El Norte, and How to Sell a Haunted House. Voted for How to Sell a Haunted House.
Young Adult Fiction: I read Reign, which was a nice end to the series but not a great book. Not voting.
Debut Novel: I absolutely loved Ink Blood Sister Scribe so I am happily voting for this despite not reading any of the other books!
I read a couple books and have a few still left on my TBR. I only voted in a couple of categories:
Historical Fiction: Lady Tan's Circle of Women - great book, it got my vote. (4*)
Mystery Thriller: Unsolicited Advice for Murderers - it was fun and cute so it got my vote.(4*) Homecoming - it was only ok (2*)
Science Fiction: The Light Pirate - good book, it got my vote. (4*) Starter Villain - too quirky for me (2*) The Ferryman - I liked this book in the beginning, but it lost my interest towards the end (3*)
Young Adult Fiction The Brothers Hawthorne - It was my least favorite of the series (3*, so I didn't vote)
Debut Novel The Bandit Queens - I was not expecting to like this book, but it was surprisingly interesting and I thought it was really good for a debut so it got my vote (3*)

I read Pineapple Street and The Light Pirate and wasn't impressed with either. There are a lot of books there I want to read, but haven't gotten to yet.
Books published this year that I enjoyed more than those two: Salt Grows Heavy (Horror) American Mermaid (Fiction) The Last Word (Romance) There's No Coming Back From This (fiction) The Daydreams (fiction)
