I want to see the lights some day. I have a friend in northern Manitoba, like goes to work by dog sled sometimes kind of northern. She sends the most amazing pictures.

My MN group is mostly saying no luck for 99% of people. We have a very bright moon.
Kidding.... I read more. Not visible much from 9-1am but at about 5 am there have been a ton of sightings including from downtown MPLS which is unheard of. I would have gotten up if I had known (I am not a night owl).

They're really spectacular when you're far enough North that they're dancing all around and above you. Worth standing outside at -20 and getting a crick in your neck. I really miss that.

Still some magic (science) in this broken world of ours ❤️
We randomly decided to see if we could see them last night because H said he could see a green line in the sky on our way home. So we drove north a bit to a random field access. I could see them a little but my phone camera was able to catch them! Not the prettiest pictures, but I've only ever sort of seen them once before (they were strong and the sky at my parents house in the suburbs had a reddish tint but that was it). So I was excited to see them!

Seeing them someday is a big goal of mine. I debated trying to go somewhere in the Arctic latitudes this coming Spring Break since it's supposed to be near the solar maximum, but I just don't know if we're all up for it yet. I presume we'd need to buy better cold gear than what we have now for our mid-Atlantic winters.
