Sure, they don't see it, which is a damn shame, but I think it seems a strong message. Sadly, it's a message that will at best be entirely ignored. More likely, they'll use it as a rallying cry against "unfair" persecution, play the victim, and it might just be effective

and as DT seemingly gets away with it and people still flock to him —- of course these other idiots think it will work for them.

But a- it’s not working as well for DT any more. AND b- whatever it is about him that makes people absolve him of all wrong doing - these other yahoos (Rudy) don’t have it! It won’t turn out the same for them.
