Anyone have any recommendations? I think on our rest day we will try Goofy’s Kitchen, unless someone says it’s totally not worth it. We’ve never done a character meal. The kids are 2.5 and 5.5 so I feel like this is the time to do it (will be our first time doing any character meal).
We mainly did the quick counter with order ahead last time we were at WDW and it worked out well. This is really for lunches, we are usually leaving before dinner. But any recommendations in that area outside the park are welcome too! Thanks!
Are you sit down restaurant or quicker service types? We always do quick serve, for the quickness and also because you can order ahead on the app and it’s just so easy. Some of my favorites are Pym Test Kitchen, Flo’s, Award Weiners, Bengal BBQ, Hungry Bear, Plaza Inn.

yes quick serve! Thanks for the recommendations!
Jumbo turkey legs are good too! There’s quite a few stands around the park. We also always get fresh bread from Aunt Cass in DCA. We get a big loaf and have it sliced, and we put it in the stroller and all snack on it all day.
Galactic grill by space mountain is pretty good too, depending on what their seasonal items are. My kids love pizza planet, but I don’t prefer it. It’s right across from galactic grill though, so sometimes we get both and meet in between.

At Disneyland we tend to gravitate toward the restaurants in Galaxy Edge (Docking Bay 7/Ronto Roasters) although my little guy's favorite is the corn dogs at Little Red Wagon.
At DCA we have similar luck at Avengers Campus.
I always like to book a sit down dinner, just because it's guaranteed seating, and a time for a break. We usually do Blue Bayou at Disneyland and Lamplighter Lounge at DCA (they have pb&j for picky kids!)

We watched so many videos and tried all the things when we went a few months back.
The giant candy bar at Pym’s my kids still discuss regularly. The churros at Disney are garbage. I don’t care if it’s DW or DL they aren’t worthy of the discussion they get. The other item of note was some garlic cheese bread at Maurice’s treats. Oga’s Cantina was a good time and nice break if you can have a reservation. I’d not wait in the line I saw though.
We like Goofy’s for breakfast. More food options than Plaza and character interaction is better.
Blue Bayou for dinner is decent as is Cafe Orleans. Carnation Cafe is good.
I’ve mostly found the food at DL to be terrible though. We like doing sit down meals and most aren’t good. Stay away from the downtown Disney restaurants. They are expensive and gross.
I took DS2 on Mother’s Day last year when H and DS1 were out of town and I made a reservation at Lamplighter for dinner so that we could sit down, have a nice meal, and I could have a drink. I wasn’t expecting much from the food, but I was impressed.
