We are getting our new bedroom furniture delivered today! I can't wait to have a grown up bedroom! DH and I plan to do a big clothing purge as we put everything away in the new dressers, so that should feel really good. It's like a forced clean out.
Otherwise, no big plans this weekend. I may go get a facial tomorrow since my skin is feeling pretty scaly and dry. Sunday we're finally getting hit with a big snow storm, so we'll just be cozied up in the house for that.

rere, it has been SUCH a long 4 days! H, who is usually a bit of a workaholic, told me last night that clearly he had too much downtime over the holidays because he’s forgotten how to work for multiple days in a row.
Our weekend is a little up in the air. DD1 and I had a trip planned with our kayaking group but it’s supposed to storm all day so that’s cancelled. We may try for a short kayak Sunday morning since it’s supposed to be cloudy but not raining. It’s been a very wet winter so far and we haven’t managed to get out on the water much. DD2 is going to her friend’s to play Sunday. H is meeting some friends of his for D&D tomorrow. I might take the kids over to the skating rink while he is gone, I might just hang around and catch up on cleaning. TBD.
H and I might step out for a HH drink together tonight. We also might not. We are in an indecisive mood.
This week historically - when my kids are still out of school but I'm back at work - has been pretty awful, trying to juggle work and childcare. But this year was so much better since my kids were in camps. I felt like I was able to get back into the swing of things a little bit.
Our friends who live in Boulder are coming to visit this weekend and staying in my parents' condo. Tomorrow night I got a babysitter for our four kids and their two kids and we have a dinner reservation, so that will be nice. But I'm having trouble getting a read on whether they want to hang out otherwise. I know they have plans to go to the zoo and Legoland but I'm not sure if they want us to join them or not. Tomorrow DS1 has a baseball tryout/assessment in the morning, but then maybe we'll meet the friends somewhere if they want us to. Sunday DD has a softball double header and a basketball game.
Well, I just ran DH out of the house. lol After finally getting the furniture done and settled I told him I need to buckle down and get some work done. And he just kept talking to me about stupid shit. Nope, don't care about the random screws you found. Nope, will not make a Home Depot list with you. Nope, cannot help you put the bedroom back together. All of that can happen after work or this weekend. I finally stopped him mid-sentence and told him to close the office door and stop talking to me. It is now blissfully silent. And he just drove away. Hopefully to do the errands he kept bugging me about.
twinmomma that's so funny. Good for you for putting your foot down. DH works from an ADU in our backyard and I'm upstairs in my home office when I WFH, and I don't mind that I don't see him all day
Let me chime in to say that my H frequently corners me and rambles about things I do not care about.... I have a "later" start time at work so unfortunately for me, he starts talking before I leave and that makes me run even later. It is super annoying.
Once DS starts middle school this summer (sob), that will change our family schedule and for the first time in forever, I actually can go in earlier. So, I just need to make that happen and then DH cannot corner me into talking, haha.
I’m had to Google what a HH drink was. I came up with happy hour.
Yesterday and today are my days of appointments: car brakes, DS haircut, DD 11 year old well check, eye doctor and later I get my roots done.
The kids went to a free self defense class yesterday. DS liked it DD was meh.
ILs were supposed to visit but FIL has Covid. We have 1 soccer game and that’s it. I didn’t plan much because I think I’m just ready for them to go back to school. But we may of may not get a blizzard next week so they may not go back to school. Who knows….
This is all making me nervous because they are talking about Dh working from home 1 to 2 days a week. I will have to schedule my in office days on those days. I don't see us being good coworkers.
I am finally on the upswing! The kids have done skateboarding camp this week, and I'm totally impressed. For a last minute decision to register, I'm really glad we did. Both of them can now drop in, do the ramps and the mini course. It's interesting to see the differences, DD is all about precision, DS is all about speed.
We finally admitted to ourselves that a ski trip is not likely in our future this year. Most of my vacation time will be spent driving to LA to work on my mom's house. The local resorts are ridiculously crowded/at capacity. I don't have it in me to want to fly the whole family somewhere. Womp womp.

We're doing grandkid Christmas tomorrow at my parents' house. It's the first time we could get DS and my niece and nephew together due to traveling and custody schedules. I offered to pick up pizza, but my mom is going all out with a full turkey dinner. Beau wanted to stop and see his grandsons too, but I'm not sure if we will since we have to take my niece and nephew home.
No plans for Sunday yet. Beau wants to watch football so it may be a lazy day. DS hasn't been home since he opened his presents on Christmas eve, so this will be a chance for him to try everything out.
sdlaura, DS has done the after school classes, but never really progressed. It has been amazing to see how fast he picked it up this go round. Considering I'm not sure I'll ever get him to ride a bike, at least he's found some wheeled transportation he enjoys!
This is my last day off as our kids go back to school Monday. Dh has been working this week but my dad and stepmom flew home with us and are visiting a week so I took this week off too. I had to jump in on a few calls and take care of some HR stuff this week but have mostly been sitting at home chilling. I could get used to this. Monday and Tuesday are going to be painful getting back into the swing of it.
I went into the office today and then picked up DD2 and rushed to DD1’s basketball game. Another loss, but so much improvement! DD1 and I hung out for a bit to watch her friends play ice hockey in the same building while DH took DD2 home.
Tomorrow DD2 has a basketball game. Then I’m taking the dog for a long walk since he was a bit cooped up today. Other than that, nothing really planned. We are supposed to get snow on Sunday which should be fun! And I need to take down Christmas.
DH and I started working out, eating better, and we are doing Dry January. It’s tough to break my terrible snacking habits but I do feel better. I’m not eating enough, though, so I have to figure that part out.
It turned into a home cleaning day. We had 2 new couches delivered yesterday, and DD’s new bedroom rug came today.
I had to get on the kids to be social because they never want to initiate but they are both having friends over tomorrow if all goes well. I find lack of initiative to be one of DS’s things, and I am not really sure how to strengthen that weakness. He’s gotten a bit more aggressive in soccer but you can still see the wheels turning and him saying to himself I won’t make it to that ball when really he just needs to stop thinking and run towards it.
Tech support called me Thursday at 4:40, and I was on the phone until 5:45. Got 90% of my issues figured out and the couple things she had to send to the programmers.
Friday, I took off. Took the car into the shop and had a couple of quiet hours in the afternoon before DD got home. Saturday, I have 6hrs of tax update via zoom. Our speaker is in Texas. 440 people on Zoom, and oh my some of these people just can't pay attention. twinmomma when I do work from home I have to kick DH out. He 100% can't leave me alone and doesn't see me sitting at the computer as working. DD also does better entertaining herself at the office vs when we are home. Sunday we need to leave our house by 6:30 to go to DD gymnastics meet. She has a giant blister on the bottom of her big toe and of course it's the foot she does her turns on.
