I'm amused at "card carrying member" defense. They give that shit out like candy. I'm adamantly anti gun, yet somewhere I have NRA badges and awards for hitting a target with a busted up rifle at summer camp.
No, I'm not a card carrying member, but I'm sure they have my name somewhere.
Actually, I'm amused whenever "card carrying member" is invoked. Yeah, I've pledged $10 to pbs and npr which gets you cards. Now, this guy, yeah, he's a whole lot more than that. So why should he reduce it to what anyone can get for about a starbucks coffee.
Why is it only New York State that is going after the compensation of these guys?
Is non-profit status monitored at the state level or federal level?
I have zero expertise here, but I'd expect both due to taxes. IRS most likely, which is federal, but states also have their tax interests.
This is true, I forgot about that. NY would definitely want their share for such a large organization trying to justify their private jets as part of their non-profit status.
