I get tons of political donation texts a day but this one caught my attention. That was not on my bingo card, but good for him. I’m glad to see those who have been victimized by the R party extremism and thrust into the public eye fighting back and running against them.
“Harry Dunn here. The officer who defended the U.S. Capitol against insurrectionists just three years ago.
I wanted to personally tell you that I’m running to be the next Congressman in Maryland’s 3rd district.
I don’t look, live, or talk like most politicians. I’m a 6-foot-7, hip-hop loving dad, and a dedicated Democrat who put my life on the line to save our democracy.
And I’m running because Maryland deserves a warrior fighting for them in Washington.
Maryland deserves a Congressman who will put the country above their party, and put the constitution above themselves. ….”
WaPo has an article about him today, too: (gift link) wapo.st/41PpQLu
“I’ve done all that I can do in my role as a Capitol Police officer,” said Dunn, who resigned from the force last month to run for Congress. “It’s no exaggeration to say that we are one election away from the extinction of democracy. And I believe that now, with this open seat in the district, it gives me an opportunity to continue to fight more for the country, the Constitution and the people of Maryland’s 3rd District.”
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
