I thought the way they approached anger, sadness, grief..negative emotions was certainly ground breaking. Especially from the viewpoint of Asian Americans..different genders, socioeconomic perspectives and even different ethnic backgrounds. It felt so personal. I thought Ali Wong was awesome, but Steven Yeun stole the show.
The surreal turn in the back half was fucking bonkers and I kind of loved it.
I don't really understand this take. I don't blame people that had trouble getting through it. It was really uncomfortable at parts.
But I have seen very few shows that have told a story like they did. Just curious in what way was it not groundbreaking? The themes that were covered, the characters, the way their stories weaved together were quite interesting.

Well, the take is that it was a good show but I was surprised to see a post about it this much later? I enjoyed it but don’t put it up there with incredible TV (for me, this would be Breaking Bad, The Wire, etc. where storytelling and acting knocks my socks off). It’s just my personal opinion, good not great 🤷♀️

Last night was the Golden Globes and Ali Wong won, so I would guess the show's back on people's radar.

As did Steven Yeun, and the show itself for best limited series.
Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus

I saw! Happy for the both of them; I loved Steven in TWD and was excited to see him on the stage.

Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but it's an interesting comparison to place Beef...which exists in the limited series streaming Era against Breaking Bad and The Wire which are multi season "old format" shows...which in of themselves operate differently and are...not groundbreaking at all at this point in time.

I got sucked in and binged it, but don’t remember a lot of the details. Like others, I think I liked the first couple of episodes more than later ones. I feel it’s worth watching, but if you didn’t like the first episode I don’t think you will like it more as it goes on.
