I never wanted to do Disney over a spring break, but now that my oldest is in high school it's getting hard to pull her out of school.
If we were to do next year, that would be March 22 through 29...Easter is April 20. How do you think March 22 week would be next year, in terms of crowds?
Last time, we went first week in March and it was great...but I don't want to pull my daughter out for a full week.
I *think* that this time we would stay off site, maybe at Wyndham Bonnet Creek, rent a car, and spend a day or two at Universal as well.
Last time, we spent a full week in the Disney bubble and loved it, but the kids were really little and a lot of things were different (more benefits to on-site).
Easter is March 31st this year, in case that impacts your question. We will be at Disney the first week of April (arriving Easter) and our planner said it is typically a very busy (but not the busiest) time of year.
I think as long as you moderate your expectations big holidays at Disney are very manageable. We did Disneyland over Christmas a couple of years ago, and while it was crowded we had a great time because we were prepared and didn't expect lines to move quickly. We did pay for whatever version of Genie existed at the time, but didn't do any Lightning Lanes. We rope-dropped the rides we knew were going to be difficult at other times of the day, and came prepared with external batteries for our phones and some small games to play while waiting in the longer queues.
FWIW, we're headed to WDW this spring break and will be there over Easter weekend. I booked our dining reservations the second they became available, and we'll probably do Genie+ as well. Other than that my plan is to enjoy the experience for what it is. We have also been to WDW a number of times in the past so there's not a ton of FOMO going on, but we're also accustomed to going when there are higher crowds.
That time of year is spring break for a lot of areas that get out earlier than in some other states. Our spring break is always mid-March, for example. So I would expect crowds and high prices but not the biggest crowds or the absolute highest prices.
Honestly, we went over Thanksgiving one year and it was very crowded but completely doable. We had a lot of fun. I don't love crowds but when I know to expect them, it's fine. The youngest kids in our group were 7 and rode everything. Not having really little kids/strollers/stuff was key.
We went during Spring Break in 2022 and had lots of fun.
Our spring break is always the week of Good Friday or the week after. So your week of spring break is not the same for the entire country versus something like Christmas break when all schools are closed.
