TGIF! I'm also ready for the 3 day weekend. We're going out tonight with some friends to see live music. After the busy winter break I had told myself that a quiet month at home would be nice. Well, I made it all of one weekend at home before getting the itch to go out and do something, lol. It's only 6-8 though so we'll see what we get into afterwards. I don't think it'll be a super late night though. We haven't had a sitter in awhile besides our parents taking DS for various things so I'm sure he'll have fun with a cool teenager.
I'm going to sneak out at lunch to do a few quick errands and I think I will pop by the Chinese place in town to get some hot and sour soup to take home for lunch. I have no leftovers to eat, and H doesn't like it so we never order it when we're getting takeout. I'm more excited about this than I should be.
I'm kind of bummed that we aren't even getting a little bit of snow from the snow storm. We're just getting some rain, lots of wind, and the frigid temps. I live in NE Ohio (just below the snow belt for my fellow Ohioans) and the lack of snow this year is really disheartening.
I had about a quarter inch of hail yesterday, promptly covered by about the same amount of snow, and then it all promptly iced over. So everything is basically covered in a sheet of ice and it’s a mess.
Of course it’s not supposed to get above freezing until Monday so guess I’ll be staying put for the weekend. Why is it always easy to stay home when I don’t have to, but as soon as it’s necessary I get antsy?
DH is taking the kids to his parents house in NY Saturday through Monday so I get the house ALL TO MYSELF for 48 full hours. I have plans to meet my (childfree) BFF on Saturday night and can stay out as late as I want without worrying about how miserable the next day of parenting will be. Its all going to be glorious.

COVID exposure question…this feels so 2021, sorry lol! my son was with a friend last night in a car. Mom calls me today to say son has covid. My son is supposed to go to a birthday party tomorrow. Do we just carry on or do I keep him home or let the host know? Obviously if he so much as mentions a sore throat or cough or feeling off I’ll keep him home. I will not be mentioning this to him as he’s a bit of a hypochondriac 😜

I would say if he has any symptoms, keep him home. Otherwise, symptom-free, I'd test him before the party and let him go if negative.
Late start today. Highs of low teens but with wind chill we're in the negatives. Indoor recess today. I guarantee I'll get some protesting kids that I'll need to remind that they like all 10 fingers and toes currently on their body. :-p It should be a calm day giving in classroom assistance to my assigned classes. Of course indoor recess means the kids will be extra amped up.

I'm incredibly jealous. Up here in Mpls, we don't have crap for snow - which is very unusual for us considering it's already mid-January. They are forecasting "maybe" a couple inches here. BOOO - I want a huge snowstorm!

I just received an email from the school district to inform parents of an upcoming "welcome to high school" presentation for current 8th graders. (DS, my oldest, is in 8th grade.) I am about to start crying. How did it go so fast??!!

I work all weekend at my part time job and I’m kind of bummed about it. I don’t have Monday off and I really want my weekends back. Working 7 days a week is really tough.

I'm going to great wolf lodge this weekend!! I am so excited. I hope it's not totally insane, but it is what it is. My kids have no idea and they will lose their shit.
I've been making protein smoothies this week after getting a free Nutribullet and holy shit I feel so much less blah. Coffee stopped working for me and it turns out I needed protein and veggies.
Finding tangerines has been the bane of my winter existence the last five or so years. Once big Cutie took over, stores stopped selling them around here. I even tried to order them directly from the groves multiple times and they’d sub mandarins or satsumas at the last minute. It really became a THING.
Aldi actually had some today! I hope other people buy them so they keep getting them in. I’m a little scared to try them but hopefully they are good! I have some tangerine recipes that just aren’t as good with sweeter citrus.

But clementines are so much easier to peel!!! #clementines4lyfe
So much snow. Omg. My girl is supposed to arrive home late Saturday; I’m guessing there’s a 75% chance she won’t make it until Sunday or Monday. I just hope her flights get canceled early if it’s going to happen so she’s not stranded at the airport.
I’m supposed to be in a (paid! Yay!) murder mystery tomorrow. Technically the travel is after the snow is expected to stop, but I’m not looking forward to the drive. I’m half hoping it cancels.
DS has pneumonia, he's on day 3 of his antibiotic and is pretty much back to himself and is able to eat...whew! I think he can go back to school next week, thank god.
H is leaving today for a guys trip and I plan to do a big clean/organize/purge this weekend. I am so excited!

I’d let the host know and let them decide. It’s really bad out there and tests aren’t showing positives until like 4-5 days out.
I made it to work in basically blizzard conditions, parked my car. But wanted to move it to a different lot due to the wind. And it won’t start. Within 2 minutes!!!! So hopefully it is able to be jumped. If not my H will have to come across town and pick me up and I will deal with it Monday.
I was just looking at my calendar, and realized I have stuff every weekend in January. It’s been 5 years since I’ve been this booked. And the logistics are stressing me out lol Didn’t help that I had a very busy morning, far more busy that a usual Friday, especially before a 3 day weekend. But, I got something late yesterday that is quite alarming and I’m ringing alarm bells with management. So, I kind of made the work lol

I've posted about my intern before. She graduated from HS early and started interning in 2020. She's since been hired full time and has been at my company ever since. I hosted her baby shower today. I want to cry. I'm old enough to be her mom (or hopefully cool aunt 😂) and I can't believe she's having a baby! ❤️

It's Friday
Miss R is on day 3 of another 6d stint inpatient. She told me that she's FINALLY open to the partial hospital program and intensive outpatient program + taking her meds. She didn't fight me on taking her to the ER on Tuesday and even in the ER, I'm sure folks would have been floored w what she was there for - she was on her phone chatting w friends, writing down friends' phone numbers- the 6h we were there before they transferred her.
The psychiatrist and I spoke on wednesday, she's presenting the same as the previous time (ADHD, ODD, DMDD) and we discussed meds. The sticky point is that the mood stabilizing drug CANNOT have weight gain as a side effect. She's a bigger girl that doesn't want to get bigger which really limits our options.
Today I'm speaking w the social worker for the family safety plan, I'm curious what Miss R has to say bc the last time, she wanted more time w me but turned around and camped out in her room avoiding me and spending as much time w her friends as possible. If she wanted more of a connection w me, she did everything in her power to make sure that didn't happen.

I was in the office this morning for a meeting and the 2 people who I was meeting with decided to work remote and didn't tell me. Yesterday on an email chain they both said they were planning to be in office and neither thought to give me a heads up. Granted, I'm typically always remote for this meeting so I guess they didn't think to inform me... but when I went to lunch with one of them on Monday he specifically asked me if I was coming in and I said "I might" and he said okay, see you Friday maybe. Oh well... I had to go in for another reason, so it wasn't a waste. I just wouldn't have rushed to get there by 9.
After I stopped at the grocery store to grab a few things for over the long weekend. We're supposed to get a pretty decent storm here in Buffalo. Of course the place was a zoo. I specifically went to the smaller, local store because it's typically not as busy and they have the best quality/prices on proteins (which is a majority of what I bought). Well, today it was a zoo. They have a tiny parking lot and there was no spots. I ended up probably over buying, since I got caught up in the drama. LOL. A guy in front of me was buying 4 of the big 2.5 gallon water jugs. And 3 bags of ice. The bread was mostly gone and so was the milk. At least now we are set on groceries with lots of options for all meals and snacks. $200 later when I only planned on grabbing chicken, ground pork, steaks, some basics and produce. We have plenty of wine and other provisions, so bring on the storm.
I am a smidge hungover. I am trying to be productive but I am on the struggle bus. I suppose I had one chardonnay too many at dinner out with my BFF last night. Ugh. Cannot wait for my bed.
NewGirlNic, based on what you said I wouldn't have informed you either. It would only have occurred to me to do that if you said you were absolutely coming in - not I might.
