I was supposed to play volleyball with dd tonight, but it was canceled for snow. Which is annoying because its local and it's only 1 inch, but better safe than sorry I guess. Dd is bound and determined to come home, but I don't know if that will happen. She travels the parkway which should be clear, so I guess we will see this afternoon, because I don't want her driving on snow.
Tomorrow, we are supposed to go to a local bar and grill to see a band, but some of this will depend on dd. Some of the band members are her friends, but after 9, it turns into 21 and over. So we need to figure out if she and her younger friends have something to do, we all leave at 9 (that would be fine with me), or we do something else together.
Work holiday party is tonight! It's a busy day of last minute stuff since I manage the team that puts it altogether. I need to log off work early to get to the venue and do all the set up of centerpieces, DJ, photobooth, etc. And I need to make time at lunch to bring DD1 to her dad's since today is a switch day but she's home sick with pink eye.
I'm ready for the weekend! I want to get through this event tonight and then relax in a quiet house. I do have some homework to get caught up on for grad school, but otherwise no real plans.
We have 4 games this weekend and a Girl Scout painting thing.
I'm still thinking about traveling to see uncle but realizing that I would need to take the kids out of school which I really don't want to do. Ugh, waffling. ETA- I may aim for Presidents Weekend if he is still hanging in there by then.
No school/work for DS and me today because of snow. I wish it was a 2 hour delay. I like work and DS needs the routine and structure. Honestly I love the routine and structure too. It will probably be our only snow day this winter due to the mild winter we've been having.
I have a sleep study tonight to see if my sleep apnea night guard is working. Fingers crossed it is because the CPAP is so uncomfortable. I get worse sleep with that honestly.
DH is away for the day today - left on a 5am flight, back at midnight (assuming his flight doesn't get canceled due to weather). DD1 has a game this afternoon that I may or may not be going to? She can't play since she fractured her ankle, so her coach asked her and one other girl to do the scorebook... but neither knows how... and the assistant coach can't make it. So I said I'd go do it if the coach needed me. Waiting to hear about that.
Tomorrow DD2 has a basketball game. And that's it! We are supposed to get snow today but not a lot, so it shouldn't be a big deal. So maybe the kids will have friends over or something. We'll see!
In stupid news, I was so distracted yesterday that I backed into another car in the pick up line. The woman was very sweet, it was a rental since she'd just been t-boned and totaled her car. I felt like such a dope. There was literally not even a scratch on either car, but she took my info just in case and I'm going to be on pins and needles until she returns her rental.
Oh! And I found some super fun accessories for the black jumpsuit outfit! I got my nails done with a fuchsia chrome color and found a necklace with fuchsia gems and a chrome purse at Marshall's last night! It's very over the top and Barbie fun. DH was sad I didn't include him in my new fun accessories plan, so we just ordered him a tie to match it all and will pick it up from the mall on the way.

Our plans this weekend are weather dependent. So many places have been closed the last 3 days, as well as schools. We ended up with about 10 inches of snow but it's warming up today and is starting to melt. But that might make things a soupy mess and even worse than the snow. I'm just excited to see DS tonight.

We have a more social weekend than usual — I am going out twice! Lol. I have fancy cocktails/mocktails with some girlfriends this evening and tomorrow H and I are meeting another couple for an early dinner. I’m pretty wiped this afternoon already so I don’t plan to make tonight’s drinks a late event, even if they were my idea. Monday Library had more energy than Friday Library.
Otherwise we have house maintenance and a pile of laundry to deal with. I am half way through staining and sealing some shelves H built. DD2 has piano and a play date. DD1 has a whole lot of nothing. I suggested she make plans with friends but she’s had a busy week with lots of school things and homework so she just wants to chill.
No issues with snow here, but we are expecting rain, and that maybe cause some issues for us this weekend in terms of kids' sports. Things are crazy for us because new puppy. We're still trying to figure out how to watch her super closely whenever she's out of the crate because she's not house-trained yet, and she's getting into EVERYTHING. I know this period is temporary, but it's exhausting. She's lucky she's so adorable! We had her first vet appointment yesterday. She's just over 5 pounds and the vet told us we don't need to be quite as freaked out about parvo risk as the breeder would like (breeder didn't even want her to go in the grass in our own backyard). This pup is going to be SO well socialized I hope, between our four crazy kids and us taking her everywhere. We've had her less than a week and she's been passed around my book club, walked up the street to school everyday (carrying her), to a softball game, basketball practice, preschool drop-off, etc. Luckily she's super friendly and not a nervous dog (so far).
We have friends visiting this weekend and staying in my parents' condo. They used to live here and we all hung out a lot pre-kids and now they live in Austin. We have a babysitter for their two kids and our four kids Saturday night and dinner out planned. Tonight DD has softball practice and then she has a tournament this weekend, about 45 minutes away. This is her first tournament with the new team. We're hopeful that they can get the Saturday games in, even if Sunday gets rained out. In terms of total kid activities for the weekend...we are supposed to have at least 3 softball games and a basketball game for DD, a golf lesson and basketball game for DS1, and an arena soccer game for DS2 - though that league is supposed to start tomorrow and I've heard nothing about it. So we'll see.
Snow day again here! 2nd this week, plus MLK Day and a late start one day. It's been pretty glorious. I have no idea where my children are -- they both left with friends in snow gear so I imagine they are around somewhere and will return at some point.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
We had big plans the last two weekends for DD’s birthday & I consider it a small miracle that we stayed in good health for all of it. Plus, the weather didn’t stop anything. So, of course, H is sick now. Poor guy but we can hibernate for the rest of the winter.
DD2's birthday is the big e event of this weekend. She turns 10 tomorrow. We are having a party at an ice rink with a handful of her friends. The girls from this group are coming here for a sleepover tonight. Well probably go out to dinner as a family tomorrow night for her birthday. H stayed home from ski patrol today. It's been so nice having him here! He helped with the usual weekend cleaning this morning and helped DD1 make crepes for breakfast.
I updated about our sports Saturday in the January sports, Sunday has been grocery shopping and stocking up on Benadryl. Good news is that my Comcast service has been restored at my office building so we can load up all the work computers and go back to work. I won't have to work off the TV tray in my bedroom to just process payroll. I'm going to be so busy next week.
