so far, just NYC for president's day/H's birthday weekend and atlanta in early april for my annual meeting. hoping to see my cousin and her kids while there.
ideas on the table: stockholm in late spring/early summer and depending on H's job sitch another vacation around thanksgiving/my bday.
three of my four big conferences take place in the span of two months, so july through mid-october is basically off limits for vacation.

For family trips we've got: Riviera Maya for Spring Break Extended family long weekend in South Haven, MI in June Keweenaw Penninula in August Jamaica for Thanksgiving (exact location TBD) Probably a few nights in Chicago here and there
Work trips to: Long Beach Atlanta Quebec City Hopefully Salt Lake City
Flying into Munich, out of Rome, with Salzburg and Venice in between and an overnight in Paris on the return in June for 10 days.
Maybe Boston and Rhode Island in October if Southwest flights are a reasonable amount of points and the school district gives fall break again and other things work out.
Was hoping to take a long weekend somewhere with my oldest DD by herself at some point, but not sure if we will get that sorted or not. We had to cancel our 1:1 trip to a spa in Wisconsin last year. Maybe we can re-plan that for after she turns 18 and can access all the spa things?
Also hoping to go on a long weekend with my mom somewhere, but not sure we will get that to work either.

dutchgirl678 , where did you grow up? the netherlands is on our shortlist to relocate eventually.
I grew up near Nijmegen (close to the German border) but also lived near Utrecht a few years ago. And I lived in Eindhoven for several years.
My DH had a really hard time finding a job there, so if you do relocate make sure you have jobs lined up before you move. Feel free to DM me if you would like more details.

dutchgirl678, we really liked utrecht when we went in 2022. all the kids in our life got miffy gifts for christmas if it's before we're semi/retiring, we'd most likely only move if H had a job offer. i'll definitely hit you up for advice if it happens.
I should be on a plane to Guadeloupe right now but we had to cancel because of a family issue.
We're going to Slovenia for 10 days in June and staying in 4 locations. We'll also have an overnight in Brussels on the way back.
Other than that, we may go somewhere to use the Jet Blue points and credit from our cancelled flights but no concrete plans. I am probably going to Cape Town in February 2025 for work so we may focus on saving for that trip. MH wants to stay at the same lodge went to in 2019 but it's almost twice as much because it's peak season.
So far the only plan for this year is an Alaskan cruise/land tour. Would love to visit Italy again and take a river cruise or Greek islands cruise.
We are scheduled for an Alaskan Cruise/Land in June! I can't wait!
Nice! Which cruise line? We are looking at Princess since everyone says they are the best for AK. Never been on them before, usually a Celebrity cruiser.
Did Houston in early January for the CFP National Championship Currently in Austin on a wellness retreat with some mom friends Belize for midwinter break in February Girls weekend in NYC in March Vietnam / Cambodia / South Korea for 2.5 weeks for spring break Disneyland in May Adele in Las Vegas in June New York City and PA in late June London and Scotland in August
Haven’t really flushed out fall plans but will definitely include another trip to New York City and PA, and I think we might do a long weekend in Washington DC in October so that we can visit while Biden is president… not feeling so confident about 2025.

We looked at Princess and Holland America. We chose HAL for the timing and the cost. But they are both owned under the same parent company.

DC is nice in October! It is after peak tourist season, so things are not as crowded. Also, the weather (especially the past few years) is still nice, so walking around and eating outdoors is pleasant.

Good to know! I am debating between October and over Memorial Day weekend as my kids have four day weekends both days. I might have to check to see when / if Congress is in session because I am related (by marriage) to a Congressperson who will be up for re-election during the next four year Presidential cycle, and we want to try to go to DC while they’re there and there’s a Democrat as president so… need to do it this year in case they don’t win re-election.
We’re going to Congaree National Park in South Carolina and to Atlanta over spring break.
Going to the Dallas area in April to see the eclipse.
Still figuring out the summer. I have a conference in Long Beach in early June, so we may go early and do Disneyland with the family. Or, it sounds like my professional society’s annual board strategy planning session may be in Italy in June. If that’s the case, my family is tagging along and we’ll extend for a family vacation.
We’ll do something over fall break and/or Thanksgiving break, but no idea what yet.

turbo, memorial day weekend in DC is sometimes nice but usually very hot and humid. like maybe 3 of the last 15 years have had enjoyable weather. november and december are usually pretty nice too.
I am supposed to go to Ireland for work in July, but I have started job hunting, so not 100% sure it will happen. If I go, I will bring DS and we will extend the trip. Probably to include Northern Ireland.
DS is also doing a week camp in Vermont late July/August. I'm considering whether any/all of the rest of us will make a vacation of it and get an air bnb for the week.
Nothing else planned yet, but am considering:
Puerto Rico as a family Utah with DS to look at colleges Sedona by myself or potentially as a girl's trip
I just booked flights to Geneva for July/August. My uncle offered up his house in Geneva while he's back home in Ireland and it was an offer I couldn't refuse. Sooo we'll use Geneva as a home base for the surrounding area (Montreux, Chamonix, Northern Italy & France). Flights were actually fairly "cheap"; I paid $3800 for the 4 of us and that includes upgraded seats for the redeye over.
Would love to hear tips if anyone has been to the area with kids! Mine will be 5 & 7.
Kentucky next month to do part of the Bourbon Trail with friends Iowa in May for my brother and SIL's annual Eurovision party I feel like St Louis is somewhere to visit husband's family, but I can't remember when we decided to do that . . . Possibly Rome this fall, but might get pushed to next year
Mostly, we're trying to save $$$ for an Africa sabbatical in 2025. 😁
