I know that this is a controversial and maybe unpopular question, but I haven’t seen it brought up anywhere. Is anyone thinking of changing their party affiliation to vote for Haley in the primaries? H and I are both liberal democrats, but after the NH results, my H went so far as to ask me whether we should send money to the Haley campaign.

I'm in Maryland and there's the downticket race to replace Ben Cardin in the Senate, so no. When I was voting in my first election the Maryland Republican Party used to have an open primary, so I registered unaffiliated and voted for McCain over Bush Jr. in that primary.

I’m not. She’ll likely be out before my state since our primary is t until June. But, more importantly for us, there’s a major primary battle going on for Bob Menendez’s seat, so I need to vote in the D primary.

That’s a good point. I hadn’t thought about the other races going on. I’d like to vote for Adam Schiff and the Ben Savage campaign has been blowing up my phone to get my vote for Schiff’s seat and I’d love to consider another candidate then Savage because I just can’t take him seriously.
I don't think there's anything compelling going on in the D primaries for me, but it had not occurred to me to switch to R to vote for Haley. I could see some moderates voting for her over Biden in the general, so that seems like a dangerous game to play.
VA has open primaries and we don't even register as any particular party. DH has more often than not voted in the R primary just to try to get more reasonable candidates (he also voted McCain over George W), but I've never really felt compelled to.

No. Not only do I not think this is an effective strategy, I also do not want my name out there anywhere as being associated with the Republican party.

This is where I am. I think Biden would have a much harder time beating Haley in the general election. We know he can beat Trump though.
I had thought about it since we can vote in whichever primary we want HOWEVER Ted Cruz is up for reelection this year and I’m voting against him every chance I possibly can.
I'm in VA which is open primary. I've voted in the R primary before and was debating doing it this time, but unfortunately because of the shitty primary system it likely won't matter by the time we get to us.

I’m really worried about his chances of beating Trump. Sure the economy is getting better, but I worry about his likability when it comes down to getting voters to the polls.

The GOP nomination is signed, sealed, and delivered... Unless Trump drops dead or is arrested, the party will nominate him no matter what happens in primaries.
I honestly wouldn't show her any support, she will be back in 2024....a protest vote against Trump is wasted when the GOP is doing the counting.
I won't be voting for Biden or Trump on election day and don't know who I am voting for but it sure as shit wouldn't be her. In the primaries or any election.

And let’s not give anyone a talking point about all these Ds switching parties.
Haley can't get any delegates in Nevada because she is on the primary ballot and not the caucus ballot. So, a vote for her would not change anything in my state.
It crossed my mind. We don’t have to be affiliated here we just have to say at the poll which ballot we want. I have to look at see if anything else will be on the ballot before I did it though.

I’m sure I’m in the minority, but I don’t believe the republican contest is over, and I don’t vote in protest.
I'm in South Carolina and was considering this strategy as well. I did this for a down ballot primary a couple of years ago to try to vote for the lesser of two evils.

I’m a registered independent and have wondered if this would be helpful. (I had a high school US government teacher who felt strongly that teacher should register as independents and it always stuck with me.)
We used to live in TN and I did this fairly regularly. The Republican primary WAS the general election in that area for all practical purposes. I would prefer a less offensive Republican because I was gonna get a R, no matter what.
I last voted in the R primary in 2016 for obvious reasons.
We live in TX now and I’m so excited to vote against Ted Cruz. I’m also not sure Haley gives Biden a better shot. So I’ll be in the Dem primary for the down ballot races this year.
I also do not understand why everyone is putting so much focus on Iowa and New Hampshire. Neither of these states have large populations.
Trump has 32 delegates. Haley has 17. You need over 1000 delegates to win the nomination.
I am unaffiliated, I need to see what else is on the ballot before I decide which one I am going to take.
People care so much about IA and NH because they’re so early. Candidates need to continue to raise money to keep a campaign running and if they don’t do well right away, donors start backing off. A few big Haley donors has already announced they’re suspending funding.
The whole system is awful. We need one national primary day and serious campaign finance reform. The amount of money spent on all of this beyond ridiculous.
