In just 16 months. Over 26 THOUSAND. Thats roughly 60 a day. The number only represents the number of pregnancies that resulted from rapes. The total number of rapes is something that is horrific to imagine.
Fuck Republicans, anyone who votes for that party, and the men responsible for those pregnancies.

it’s horrific, but 6k per day would be more than 2.6 million. 60ish per day is awful enough.
Texas has around 1k births per day total.https://healthdata.dshs.texas.gov/dashboard/births-and-deaths/live-births

Here is the full study and all their estimates. I am not a researcher smart enough to analyze if their methods are sound, but they estimate approximately 518,000 rapes between 4-18 months of the abortion bans in 14 states. Just the fact alone, regardless of abortion bans that the estimates of this many rapes is very very very disturbing. From their estimated rapes they estimate about 64,000 pregnancies.
This is just in 14 states with abortion bans; so the national rape estimate would be much higher.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
It's so fucking awful. Fuck Republicans and Christians. We knew this was the result. They don't care. They're pretty sure keeping your legs closed will fix all the problems so all those pregnant people brought it on themselves and got what they deserved.

Many of them also explain it as “God making something positive come out of tragedy.” As in, yeah, you got raped, but now you have this wonderful baby.
That’s exactly what what I was taught growing up in a conservative, evangelical home.

I wasn't taught this but friends in college used that "logic' on me. It's a lesson to teach parents humility. Etc. and don't forget that kids with down syndrome are pure joy. Also, if a mom does, it will reach her surviving children... Something. Said to me, someone whose mom died when I was 6, and they knew that. They knew how actively I was suffering.
And I realize this is about rape and the something beautiful from something awful, but they apply in all situations to justify their nastiness

I'm sorry that was said to you. Yes, having grown up in that atmosphere, I have heard that logic all my life being used to explain horrific things. "God's will" and an oft-used verse that, paraphrased, they believe says God makes good things happen out of bad for those who love him. It's the classic "make lemonade out of lemons" attitude.

so by their twisted logic - in the terrible event you get raped, the best birth control is atheism?

Nope, in the terrible event you get raped, God will turn it into something positive. Like maybe you went through it so you could help others (I've heard that one a lot regarding various tragedies and struggles).

Right and I think sonrisa is saying so God won't make lemons into lemonade for an Atheist, i.e. that logic means God won't make an Atheist pregnant after rape.

yes - if a child is some sort of post rape ‘blessing’ god bestows on his faithful, an atheists should be able to escape that special ‘blessing’

nah, because it'll teach your faithful bitch of a neighbor something when she tutt tutt tutts at you through the window.

Nope. By their logic, an atheist struggling with trauma might be realize they were wrong and turn to God/religion for comfort/to cope, or at least be more open to the possibility than if something terrible had not happened to them.
