Earlier this week I was reading Muppets in Moscow: The Unexpected Crazy True Story of Making Sesame Street in Russia by Natasha Lance Rogoff. It's really interesting but I am stressed out and found myself struggling to focus.
I ended picking up Rogue Protocol (Murderbot #3) instead. I haven't had a lot of time to read but it's easier going.
QOTW: I enjoy it as long as it doesn't stick around for more than day or two. I work for a university and, even though we can work from home, we still get snow days off.
I finished: Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford,4* Little Secrets by Jennifer Hillier, 3*
I'm currently reading The Sleeping Dictionary by Sujata Massey. I'm really enjoying this book. I discovered that it was made into a movie and cannot wait to watch it afterwards.
QOTW: I like snow. I grew up with it, but spent many of my adult years in places without it so it hasn't gotten old yet.
On the Line: A Story of Class, Solidarity, and Two Women's Epic Fight to Build a Union by Daisy Pitkin (the way she chose to write it was very distracting)
Ex-Wife by Ursula Parrott (interesting time capsule)
The Night of the Storm by Nishita Parekh (fun but didn’t make a lot of sense)
Here in the Dark by Alexis Soloski (disappointing!)
No One Can Know by Kate Alice Marshall (fun)
QOTW: I have no interest in snow and take great pains to avoid having to go out in it or deal with it at all.

Just finished House of Sky and Breath (Crescent City #2) and I can't wait to get book 3 this coming week! The ending of this one was already somewhat spoiled for me, so I'm excited to go into #3 without spoilers. I'll be trying to avoid them!
QOTW: I'm indifferent if I don't have to drive. If I have to go anywhere, then I hate it. I'm happy there hasn't been much snow this winter (especially compared to last year!) but it's also a bit worrying 😬
I’m reading The Helsinki Affair by Anna Pitoniak. It’s good, not anything amazing.
QOTW: I don’t love snow and very much dislike driving in it. It’s pretty if I don’t have to deal with it. I really love my snow boots, so I guess that’s something!

Finished The City That Barks and Roars and Play the Fool. Both were fine.
Started reading The Eyre Affair which takes place in a universe that revere literature. The main character is trying to find the criminal mastermind who is killing characters from classics. It's a little too silly - which is a rare complaint from me.
Started reading Miss Aldridge regrets about which is a murder mystery set on an ocean liner in the 1930s.
QOTW: Do you get excited for snow or hate it? I think snow is more exciting for children, it's typically work for grownups! Although I don't mind when it's light and doesn't stick - then it's just fun.
Finished -Children of Ruin by Adrian Tchaikovsky. Second book in a trilogy, author managed to fit a hell of a lot of emotional turns into this one. More than once my husband had to listen to me explain what was happening just so I could talk to somebody about it. The ending wrapped up a smidge too neat and clean to feel totally satisfying especially with how it (intentionally) echoed the themes of the first book. But it was still definitely good.
-When Women were Dragons, Kelly Barnhill. Beautiful, infuriating allegory. The end dragged for me. would still recommend.
QOTW: I love snow. I hate ice. So once the snow turns into slippery icy mess on all the roads and sidewalk (i.e. 24 hours in) my love dies.

I read Undone, which is the third Will Trent book. I like the series and I hope he breaks free of Angie soon, because she's not good for him, but mostly because I think those parts of the books are boring. I also read Looking For Alaska, which I think someone here recommended. It was fine, nothing great. Currently reading You Aren't From Around Here, Are you? The title caught my eye because even after 15+ years in the south, I never stopped hearing that. This one is a memoir of a lesbian couple living in smalltown, Pennsyltucky.
I love snow! I love snowball fights and sledding and snowmen. I don't even mind shoveling. What I DO mind is that my kids are older now and would rather play with their friends than me! And also, the new dog we got likes to play in the snow, but apparently doesn't want to get her princess butt too cold, because she relieved herself several times in the house until I shoveled a spot in the backyard where she can do her business. They're all lucky they're cute!
