I really liked it. Billy Joel is one of my favorites - when all of my friends were listening to NKOTB, I was listening to him. I’m always impressed when I think of him how talented he is as a songwriter, especially since he wrote classical music, too. I do think his voice has changed, but can still tell it’s him. I hope he releases more songs soon!

I will say, it's not even his voice that bothered me. I know he can't hit the high notes like he used to but he's still great live. I saw him with Stevie Nicks a few months ago. DH is a *huge* fan. I just think the melody for this one was kind of blah and not very memorable, which is so counter to what he's known for.
I don't dislike it....but it's not classic Billy Joel. If I hear it playing somewhere I wouldn't instantly know it was him like I would with his other music.
My dad is his twin, I always think it's hilarious when I see a picture of Billy Joel.

This is me too! I blame my parents, in a good way. Billy Joel and Tom Petty in particular were staples of my childhood. I completely missed NKOTB because they were never played in my house.
It really is excellent! And as a fan, it’s exciting to hear new music, too.
Billy Joel crushed it at the Grammys last night. It was so fun to see him so well received. New music & touring this summer after such a long career. It’s amazing.
I haven't listed yet. What I would love to hear from him is updated version of We Didn't Start the Fire.
I think he's said he hated that song and regrets making it.
Or maybe I just dreamed he said that. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference.
I don't know about hate/regret, but he has said he's doesn't think it's his best work. Jon Oliver played a clip of him making fun of himself for the melody. He still performed it at a concert I was at a few months ago, though.
I like Fall Out Boy a lot, but can the terribleness of their version be a unity horse?

I don't think I've ever disagreed with a comment more. I like the song, but I also think it's exactly what you would get if you asked AI to write a Billy Joel song, right down to the piano segment, the theme, his voice.

Same; I have most of his repertoire on my iTunes and listen regularly. I absolutely got hints of Piano Man/NY State of Mind and his sonata/classical piano piece he wrote as well. It's not as punchy as some of his other pieces that he wrote when he was younger, but it's for sure what I would expect from him as an older, wiser musician.

I still listen to the FOB version bc I love them. Patrick could sing me a recipe.

Hahaha I figured someone would disagree since the comment right before me was 100% opposite
I agree on the piano and voice...I think it's the tempo that is throwing me off
