DH and i got to talking yesterday since he was gone over the weekend visiting some friends and i stayed home. IF you are home by yourself or traveling by yourself (staying in a hotel) - do you leave the door open while you go to the bathroom and/or take a shower? DH thought it was odd that I kept the bathroom door open the entire time but I didn't think anything of it. I do WFH so when I go to the bathroom during the day I don't bother to close the door.

Yes when I'm just going to the bathroom, but no when I'm taking a shower. And that is for no other reason than that my dog will get in the trash if she is given free reign in the bathroom.
I would keep it open, but I don't currently have curtains or blinds in my living room. You can see right into my bathroom from the street and neighbors houses when the lights are on. One of my houses, the steam from the shower would set off the smoke alarm, so I'd keep that one closed too.

When I lived alone I never closed the bathroom door. Now, if I'm home alone it all depends on which bathroom and the pets. First floor bathroom, door closed because the dogs will come in and grab stuff from the trash. En suite bathroom, open because only the cats could be up there and I'm fine with their bathroom visits!
I thought this was gonna be another between spouses thing and I was ready to come in all HELL NO, but then I saw it’s by yourself and yeah, I’m usually too lazy to close it. Except showering in the winter because I’ll use a space heater to heat up the bathroom so I shut the door then.

It's just H and I. I always leave it at least cracked. NYC bathrooms barely have enough room to turn around in and there's zero ventilation so closing the door means it's a complete sauna.
Even in a hotel I almost always leave the door partially open.

I voted Ss but in reality I do not leave the door open.
My kids used too when they were really young. When they started kindergarten, I forgot to teach them the importance of closing the bathroom door (at that point they were either at our house or my aunts/grandma’s so it wasn’t a big deal), their teacher sent a note to the parents to remind them to shut the bathroom door. Turns out 2 of my kids were leaving the door wide open to pee. 😬

Our bathroom in our primary bedroom is really private...there's a set of double doors into our closet area, then another doorway sized opening (but no doors), and the actual toilet is on the far end of the room separated by a water closet area with door. So to be honest, I often don't close the water closet door (or even the double doors to the bathroom) when just the kids are in the house with me. They rarely come to my bedroom and just yell loudly when they want something (the heathens). When I shower, I make sure the door to our bedroom is closed, but I don't bother to close the bathroom door for that either.
I'll leave the door open if I'm going to the bathroom when I'm home alone. But I always close the door if I'm showering because if I don't, it feels freezing in the bathroom when I get out of the shower.
