I for one and also glad I don't have to see so many commercials for this race anymore. I was worried Pilip would win though, so I'm very glad Suozzi won fairly comfortably in what was expected to be a true toss-up.

I'm curious if the storm depressed turnout the way they thought it might per the NYT yesterday. They were saying that Republicans in that district didn't utilize early voting because of a mindset of you have to vote in person on election day and that Democrats had a huge lead in early voting voter turnout, which might have affected the outcome.
Either way, I'm glad and relieved to see this result, but I worry about Democrats resting on their laurels on this and missing a potentially major factor (fluke of bad weather depressing turnout).

I thought about that, given who likely R voters tend to be. But, if the race would have been much closer without the storm, the GOP has only themselves to blame for discouraging their voters from early voting.

Oh, absolutely. Telling their constituents that voting in person on the day off is really coming back to bite them. But I never underestimate how the DNC can misread a win and turn it into a loss.
