I know we were joking about people who think that the NFL/Chiefs/Taylor/Kelce are all part of some kind of psy op, but I wonder if the shooters actually believed it??
It's bad that at this point, I'm just like, "oh. Another shooting." and then move on with my life because it happens so frequently that I've become pretty desensitized to it. I think the first thought that came to my head when I read the headline was "I'm not surprised." We shouldn't be living this way.

I debated taking my family to the Texas Rangers parade when they won the World Series but the thought of a mass shooting happening at it is one of the things that stopped me. What a country we live in.
From the article: "I'm angry at what happened today," Graves said. "The people who came to this celebration should expect a safe environment. We had over 800 law enforcement officers at this location."
Not trying to be flippant here, because I’m mad AF about the situation in our country, but my first thought was literally: it’s almost like good guys with guns aren’t the solution.

This may be a situation where he just wasn't going to come across good no matter what, but this is heartbroken Travis walking into a restaurant last night, beer in hand.
This would be a good time for the NFL to make a statement against guns and maybe link up support for groups like Moms Demand Action instead of just featuring Moms who are cute and funny in a suite with TS or Moms feeding their sons soup on the sidelines.

Ditto. DH and I had these exact thoughts too on us two going.
I really appreciate the addition of the word “physically.” They may all physically recover 100%, but the lives of every single person there (and really, those in the community who weren’t even there) will be forever changed. I always bristle at the reports of the number of “victims.” They mean the number of people physically injured. Every single person there was a victim

This feels like rage baiting. What would you have him look like when taking a selfie with a cop? Did you want him to walk away and not acknowledge him? Pose with tears in his eyes? This is a single picture in a long day.

As I said it may be that he is just in a no win situation, but I do think walking around in public holding a beer and posing for big toothy grinning selfies isn't the best look hours after that event. I think it's fine to say in light of today I'm just not up for a photo. We can disagree.

I’m so sad and angry. The long term stats often only talk about the death count and don’t mention all of the people who were injured (often in severe life altering ways) or witnesses. I saw a social media video where some guys were trying to name a type of place in the US where there hasn’t been a shooting and every place they named and then googled already had a shooting. School, malls, movie theaters, churches, marathons, libraries, concerts, sports games at a public park, playgrounds, amusement parks, fairs, etc. They got more specific in their guesses and were still stumped. Most had mass shootings. Super Bowl parade may have been one that didn’t qualify at the time. If we can’t go to any of these places without fearing being shot, how free are we?
In the 90s there were a lot of news stories about terrorism related car bombings overseas and I remember thinking how awful it would be to live in a city like that where you were constantly in fear of a bombing, but that is essentially the US now (and statistically probably worse).

Ok but then he’s “Travis kelce who refused to take a photo with a cop, he must hate all cops, etc etc” there’s nothing that he can do in that situation that will be portrayed as correct.
I went to a bar on 9/11. It was a horrible day and my friends and I needed to process it all.

I thought there was a shooting here for the Ravens Super Bowl parade but that was "only" a stabbing.
@@@@ I work closely with some of the physicians at CMH and they're really struggling. I don't think any of them went into pediatrics expecting this to become so common.

As soon as I heard about it my heart just sank. Can't have anything without some gun violence in this country. And more "thoughts and prayers" and nothing being done about the actual problem. It's sad and infuriating and exhausting.

I first saw this from my friend's husband's post. He's a huge fan, and a sports broadcaster, and he very likely could have been there with my best friend (@@@ and their young son @@@).
I'm so sick and tired of this and can't understand how people can keep seeing this over and over and only think about themselves and their stupid guns.

Totally understandable to meet up with friends to discuss and of course he needs to eat, go out and get a bite, but the looks of it was partying and that is different in my opinion. I don't think anyone was partying that night of 9/11. I was in my mid 20s and living alone 9/11 and was scared and definitely met up with friends, but it was somber.

So you're mad about Travis Kelce but not about a cop asking for a selfie? Maybe the cop should have been out being a good guy with a gun after a mass shooting instead of asking pro athletes for selfies.

I can agree with that. I was focused on Travis though given his large audience and he had just posted about his heartbreak.
