My sister and mom are on their trip, so fingers crossed that goes well for both of them but mostly my sister dealing with my mom.
My sister has unfriended our aunt on social media, and I guess that relationship is over although none of us ever really had one because aunt is not a nice person and never put in one ounce of effort ever. I found a life insurance policy for my uncle that I am pretty sure lapsed. I did try to call the insurance company but got an automated message, and I tried to send the claims department an email. I sent the email to my sister with the policy information. It's only 1,000 and split between my dad and aunt, so I guess if it lapsed that is no big deal.
DH was out of town this week and flew into the noreaster, so he worked from his hotel room the first day but was able to get into the office yesterday and today. They ended up only getting 3 inches, but the forecast was kind of all over the place apparently. My week is always more hectic dealing with the kids on my own, but we are hanging in there, and he will be back tonight.
waverly, my mom had a $100k life insurance policy that she's had since before I was born. I let it lapse. Oldest sister was PISSED because, according to her, it supposedly had a sizeable cash value. She didn't to show any interest in managing my mom's finances, so she gets no say. Turns out the beneficiary was my uncle (WHY?), and the cash value was like $2k. I also cancelled the FOUR life insurance policies mom had with oldest sister as beneficiary. The cost was way too high on most of them. ($4k/year, $10k payout type stuff), and on two of them, they didn't even have my sister's legal name - one had her maiden name from 30 years before, one was SIGNIFICANTLY misspelled)
I am on the struggle bus at work. As usual. The vacation we have scheduled for May is too far away to be motivating, the weekend away we have in March is too short to make a difference (4.5-10 hour drive each way, depending on road conditions, and only taking a couple hours off work on Friday).
