Anyone want to chime in on wallpaper? This would be for the back of built-ins surrounding the fireplace, and placed on a slip board so if we get sick of it, we'll be able to remove or update with limited hassle. It's not a huge area, so the thought was to add something fun and playful.
The designer selected a couple, but I don't think they're the ones for us. I figure I'll send her my top choices either for her to yay or nay them or just give her a better insight into our likes vs. having her shooting in the dark.
The kitchen and bar cabinetry will all be navy (exact shade TBD), lower cabinetry of the built-ins will either be navy to match, or white to match the kitchen uppers (initial plan shows wood an option, but our floors will be wood, I don't love the look of wood against wood, so I plan to suggest white). Fireplace surround tiles TBD based on what we decide on wallpaper and cabinet color.
Here's what we've compiled for wallpaper choices. The choice we liked (but not loved) from the designer is in the mix too, but I won't say which.
If you want a more elegant aesthetic, first column, second one down (the watercolor flowers) I think would be gorgeous and subtle with a white bookcase.
Second column, third one down is the most playful. (It's actually one we are looking at for couch throw pillows and our couch is a dark navy so I think that would look great.)
First column, last one down is also playful but a little more timeless I'd say. Would look great with a white bookcase.
I really do not like the third column, last one. It looks old lady to me.

I like the florals. Favorite is third row middle. I do like the darker florals too but I think that might be too dark especially if what you are putting in the shelves will also be dark-ish (e.g. books, records).

I feel like wallpaper is really personal lol. But I also think with white shelves, I'd go for high contrast. My picks would be last row 1st and 3rd, or 3rd row 3rd (not in any order of preference lol).

Also we almost bought a house that had a bedroom with a wallpaper on 1 wall similar to those in the 1st row, most similar to the far right, with gray on the other walls. It was a nursery, and it would have been my dd's room, and I LOVED that, but that is swaying me from thinking any of those would be good for a living room.
I nixed all the ones that are just versions of navy and white (bottom center because I found out a friend has already used it..)
My personal favorites are the top row right and 2nd row left. If we end up going darker, second row middle was not one of my favorites, but has been growing on me. (I think because of the hummingbirds were something my grandma collected?)
I've also suggested that we can perhaps use one that doesn't get used for the back of the built ins in the bathroom. Any of them would match with the tile I think we're going with, but some better than others.
No response yet from the designer (they are OOO this week)
Also the designer choice was bottom right... which my friend is in love with and now wants to include in her next project.
Whoa. The designer's choice was my LEAST favorite! The other marble-y one was my second least favorite. I pretty much liked all the rest. I just loved the hummingbird one. A few of them I liked a lot but felt might be too trendy.
They ordered tons of samples for us based off what we sent them and we ended up picking one not from above, but it’s much more up our alley than the original choice.
I’m mobile and can’t do the fancy embedding, so here’s the link.. somehow in the selection process we realized DH likes wallpaper with lemons 🤷🏻♀️ and I like wallpaper with gold accents, so we both won for this one for the built ins:
