I finished What Feasts at Night by T. Kingfisher. I really like the characters and the stories are great but this series doesn't quite live up to some of her other works. I think it's just because of the length though and I will absolutely read any future books as soon as they come out.
I started The Warms Hands of Ghosts by Katherine Arden. I'm only a few chapters in but it's excellent so far.
QOTW: I had a yellow blanket that I kept until it disintegrated. I called it my OD but no one ever figured out why I did.
I finished The Book of Doors by Gareth Brown, which I really enjoyed. Just started Come and Get It by Kiley Reid, but I’ve only managed a few pages so far.
QOTW: I had a blanket that eventually fell apart to just the satin edging, which was the part I liked best.
The Final Curtain by Keigo Higashino with Keigo Higashino (eh, i think this is the last in the series and if there are more, I’m not reading them)
All the Broken People by Leah Konen (fun)
The Night Guest by Hildur Knútsdótti (ok)
Group Living and Other Recipes: A Memoir by Lola Milholland (uneven)
Broken Ground by Val McDermid (solid)
Almost Surely Dead by Amina Akhtar (fun)
Splinters: A Memoir by Leslie Jamison (ok but I must have read other essays by her that she reworked into the book because I felt like I read all of this before )
The Widow's Guide to Dead Bastards by Jessica Waite (uneven)
QOTW: I had a big blanket I took everywhere and my mom cut her into pocket sized squares so I could take her with me more easily

Finished House of Flame and Shadow (CC #3). It was mostly good. A few things that bothered me. But I liked it. Can't say much more without spoiling anything 😂
Just started Wellness and I already relate to the story and like it. Hopefully it stays that way!
QOTW:I had a blanket and doll I'd bring everywhere. My parents still have the doll but I don't think they have the blanket(s). After a while I dropped the blanket and changed up the stuffed animal occasionally. I'm trying to remember what that doll was called.. Jammie Pie or something? Idk why that comes to mind haha.
This week I finished reading The Future of Another Timeline and finished listening to Leave only Footprints: My Acadia to Zion journey…
I didn’t have a comfort object. I had a stuffy I got when I was older and kept it until I had kids, but wasn’t super attached but it was a good thing to hold when I needed to cry.

Oh man, I loved Future so very much. I might need to read that again.

Finished Of Manners and Murder and Something in the Heir. Of Manners and Murder was a fine, pretty typical, predictable mystery. I have no inclination to continue the series. I ended up liking Something in the Heir. It was a little schmaltzy and predictable but in the best way possible.
Started reading My Dear Henry which is kind of a Jekyll and Hyde retelling in which the romantic relationship between Utterson and Jekyll is the impetus for the narrative.
Started listening to Mortal Follies in which a young woman is cursed by the gods and must seek assistance from a mysterious woman to prove she was wrongly cursed. It's funny, narrated by hobgoblin Robin Goodfellow who inserts commentary throughout about mortals, and I'm enjoying it.
QOTW: Did you have a childhood comfort object? Toy, blanket, something else? not when I was very young, but as an older child, a giant white teddy bear that was my go-to for cuddling and/or crying.
I laugh at myself when I do this because I have to look it up every time. how do I not know what I read last week?
The Seventh Bride, T Kingfisher - creepy, surreal, folk tale vibes (as usual for T. Kingfisher). Bluebeard's wives this time. Loved this. May have nightmares about the golem wife. House of Flame and Shadow (CC3) Sarah J maas - I mean....Sure. Ok. It's nice that it all wraps up with a bow. Was fine. Worth finishing out the series. Echo of Old Books, Barbara Davis - I loved this. historical framed narrative double romance? I guess? Heartbreaking and sweet.
Started the Blade itself, Joe Abercrombie - i don't hate it, but I don't see keeping on with his catalog based on this one. we'll see how it finishes. Maybe.
QOTW - not really? Many objects shared my love. I had a collection of bunnies (which included bun jovie and pat bunnytar) that I kept my whole childhood and moved with 3 times until eventually gave them to my daughter. Now it makes me happy to see them in her extensive stuffy collection. But I didn't have a one and only special item.
