I have no details about the negotiation or thinking for this. Republicans already site the fact that several European countries have gestational bans as a talking point, so I’m sure this will be included.
It’s maddening that the government interferes with people’s bodily autonomy. I don’t agree with gestational bans as they are devastating to people and we shouldn’t settle. Abortion is legal in Canada throughout pregnancy (access to providers who are trained throughout pregnancy is a different story) and that’s what we should strive for.
