The entire article pisses me off. We've known for literal decades that these power grids were failing. Now there's much wringing of hands and calls to stay on coal plants because the power companies put profits first.

And the talk that Bitcoin and AI will be more important than the humans who need the grid to survive? We don't need this. None of what is going in is needed for human life. Shut it down.

I work in software/tech and I'm increasingly burned out, but part of that is looking around and wondering how much of all this code and data and burning CPUs is contributing to the world in any actual meaningful way. Obviously some of it is. But a whole lot of it isn't. Just the technocrat class building wealth by building and running shit that only they will use and driving up housing costs and energy costs for everyone else while profiting off their information.

I think bitcoin pisses me off the most. I did once feel guilty that I had so many emails I never deleted and went through a massive purge. I'm sure it's just a drop in the bucket, but boy did it feel good.
