It was a long, busy, draining week, and I'm really, really happy that it's Friday! We don't have a ton planned this weekend. DD2 and I will go to the animal shelter near my parents' house because she requested dog/cat supplies for donation to the shelter instead of presents at her birthday party last weekend. I'm happy to get rid of them because my dog is howling at them - he wants to tear them all apart lol. Dh and I have to coach DD2's club indoor game tomorrow night. I saw the team that they're playing, and it's going to be a terrible, messy game.
Work update... I was very much at peace with my decision to take a step back/leave my current job/client. This week was...ugh. So one coworker went out on maternity leave in October, said she was taking at least 6 months off, her return was in question. She confirmed that she's not coming back, but would be open to projects.
So one of my bosses reached out to a former coworker of mine that I recommended, specifically to run a huge charity event in the fall. She refused - too much for her to take on with other clients and businesses. This week, they fired the office manager. It was the right thing to do - she was struggling with the job... but when you only have 12 people, and 3 are part time, and one full-time doesn't come back from leave, and you fire one... it's a big impact.
So now I'm feeling bad about leaving right now, wondering if I should stick it out for a little longer, logically knowing that they'd bounce me out of there in a heartbeat if it suited them...
We had kind of an up and down week. DS is failing math because he didn't turn in 2 assignments. He did turn in test corrections so those at least should get him to a D, but he really needs to get those 2 assignments in. Plus he lied multiple times about turning them in and visiting the teacher during teacher access days. And then when he did visit the teacher all he did was ask about the assignments instead of asking any questions on how to do homework or anything like that.
We did have successful soccer practices and our last dog training. We got an e-collar that we are still trying to work out. Dog is sensitive to vibrate, so we don't even have to use anything stronger lol. Vibrate is like your phone vibrating.
We have the Girl Scout camp out this weekend. Plan is to get there around 11:40 right before lunch and leave an hour or two after dinner. Dinner is probably at 5 or 5:30 since they eat early. They are charging for food so my plan is to maximize the food stuff, smile and nod, and then leave and get a decent night of sleep.
mae0111, Don't do it!!! Just follow the plan that's right for you and let them sink or swim on their own!
I'm limping along through work today and just making sure loose ends are all tied up before I leave for my trip on Sunday. Tonight I plan to have a self care spa night and give myself a mani and pedi at home to relax. Tomorrow I'll go watch DS's Destination Imagination competition for a couple hours and then finish packing. Car service picks me up at 3 AM on Sunday, which is going to feel extra awful with the time change!
I'm ready for this week to be done. I could play volleyball tonight, but I'm tired so I think I'll just stay in.
We have a birthday party with a band tomorrow night, but I think it will probably be canceled because it's supposed to rain and high in the 50s. That's fine by me, I'd like to maybe go couch shopping or to the home show in town looking for kitchen ideas.
Sunday, dd leaves for the Dominican. I'm getting super anxious. At first I was like live a big life kid and go, now I'm like, stay home and just hang out with me this week. I will have one kid in California and one in the Dominican next week, which puts both offspring many, many miles from me.

mae0111, I know you feel bad leaving them when they're short people, but it's their problem not yours to worry about.
Tomorrow is DS's birthday. He goes to his dad's tonight and then we have him in the afternoon and evening tomorrow. We're having a birthday party for him at a local pizza place with arcade games. So far only 3 have RSVP'd, so I'm really hoping a few more show up. I'm not sure what we're doing Sunday. When I asked Beau what he wanted to do he said all he wanted to do is sleep. We've had sun all week and then today and this weekend is supposed to be lots of rain, so riding is out even though I really need to knock off the riding rust before our riding trip in a month.
mae0111 agree with PP - don't give into the guilt. Also how great that your DD asked for pet donations for her birthday! Have fun dropping off.
I'm still recovering (obviously, given that it was only 4 days ago) from my tummy tuck on Monday. My parents took care of me at their condo the first two days/three nights and then I came home yesterday morning. Overall, it's going very well. It's been 48 hours since I took any meds beyond tylenol, and I'm moving around pretty well, albeit slowly and hunched over. I go back to the surgeon this afternoon for follow-up and I plan to drive myself. I probably still won't leave the house this weekend, but at least I can be pretty normal at home. Normally I go to the office Mondays and Wednesdays, but I think I'll probably WFH again Monday and then go back on Wednesday.
Today, DD has her first school basketball game at 1:15 pm (our schools close at 12:45 pm Fridays). Then DS3 has a baseball game at 4. DD has a bye week for flag football tonight so that's nice. Tomorrow DS2 has an 8 am arena soccer game and then DD and DS1 have softball/baseball games at the same time around 10:45/11 am. Sunday DD has a softball tournament and needs to be there at 8 am - which will feel like 7 am after the time change. Not looking forward to that for her and DH
waverly , nope, I'm not planning to go to any of them. Very possibly just DD's softball game tomorrow that's around the corner if I don't have to take any other kids with me, depending on what the surgeon says today
Today feels like Wednesday not Friday. I know it is just 7 days a week tax season blur but DD agreed that yesterday felt like a Tuesday. I'm working this weekend of course and splitting up my errand running so I do a little bit each day after work. Saturday is Target, Dicks (return), Fred Meyer, and Albertsons. Each spot is a quick in and out kind of deal and DD is going to "work" with me on Saturday so we can divide and conquer each place.
DS’s field day at his new school was this morning. He seems to be settling in well, but today he was pretty overwhelmed with the noise and activity. Luckily, he asked an adult for headphones when it got too loud, and that worked well. They got some for him and he was happy after that.
Tomorrow we are invited to a birthday party. I’m waffling on whether to go, so We really have no other plans other than DS’s ninja class. DD doesn’t start spring field hockey for another week so our Sunday is open too.
Next week is Spring Break. The kids have an eye doc appointment, DD has a dermatology appointment, and I want them to get haircuts. DD desperately needs a new dresser. Hers is falling apart, and we bought it before she was born for her nursery almost 12 years ago from Rooms To Go so frankly I’m surprised it’s lasted this long. I am going to try to take afternoons off and do activities at least a few days. Next week will be busy and sort of crazy but fun!

It was a fine week, a few hectic days but nothing crazy. I ducked out of work at 4 today and both girls had some friends over. I spent some time staining some shelves H and I have been working on. I’m supposed to go bike riding with the kids and my parents tomorrow but, man, it’s hot. I am already annoyed at how hot it suddenly is for March. Idk how much more Florida I have in me.
Saturday night it’ll rain and Sunday it’ll be pleasant again. We are going on a family road trip over to one of the state parks to do some hiking and see the azaleas.
This week went well. Last Sunday feels like it happened weeks, not days ago!
DD1 made the club volleyball team she tried out for earlier this week. I'm super proud of her! This will mean a lot more time in the car for me, but time in the gym for her
This weekend is a little busier than most for us, which is fine. We usually have packed weeks then nothing but skiing and solo parenting on weekends, so I'm welcoming the change of pace. Tomorrow morning, DD1 performs with her jazz band at a local fundraiser. DD2 and I will sell raffle tickets while DD1 is performing etc. In the afternoon, DD2 sells girl scout cookies and is ice skating with friends. We'll go to a friend's house for dinner tomorrow night. Not sure if kids will come or not. (I'd like no kids!!) Sunday I will go to my sister's town to be with her for a few hours. Her recovery from brain surgery is incredibly laborious. It's been nearly five weeks since surgery and she's still sleeping nearly 15 hours between days and nights and doesn't have much strength. DD1 babysits all day Sunday. DD2 will come with me unless something else comes up. H ski patrols both tomorrow and Sunday.
I'm exhausted today. Yesterday I helped at a work event in the evening so I was at work for most of the day. I woke up a lot in the early morning hours and work was busy today as usual. After we get DS off to bed I'm off to bed myself. On the upside, my supervisor solved my student behavior challenge in one of my reading groups. Creative solutions for the win. :-)
As for this weekend, tomorrow we're going to a friends' house for dinner. On Sunday morning a native plant expert is coming to my house to help me make sure we get get native plants for our area.
