After reading 8 zillion twitter posts on this, I am in the camp that this was a complete fake, compiled from AI or something, and not some light touch up to a photo they took a couple days ago. 

One of the conspiracy theories I saw pointed out some weird similarities between the clothing in this photo and the clothing some of them wore at an event in November. Good summary here.  E.g. Charlotte is wearing the same shirt in both, just with a sweater over it here. The older boy is wearing the same blue sweater in both, and the shirt underneath is white plaid in November, but blue plaid here.  Kate is wearing skinny jeans and the same boots, and her white turtleneck sweater is basically the same as the one in this photo, except darkened.  

I hope she and the kids are ok.  I was of the view that maybe she just wanted some privacy, but this photo and the bizarre explanation really have me thinking that there's something bad going on here.

I mean, captioning “2024” isn’t the same as saying “this picture was taken this weekend.” I’ve been known to post a few-months-old photo of me and my kid on Mother’s Day. Add having just gone through major surgery and not being up for wearing normal clothes, and this all seems perfectly normal. Just because people assumed it was some kind of proof-of-life type situation doesn’t mean there was anything nefarious about it. And even if it wasn’t from the fall, they re-wear clothing all the time.

I’m still not buying that this is some kind of major coverup.

the original post said it was taken by William this week, which is where a lot of the “deliberate coverup” gossip is coming from when they claim some of the photos are from earlier engagements. Not saying the gossip is correct, but they did claim it was a new photo from this week at their house.

Social media is a trip. There are people out there that can't see the obvious Photoshop (regardless if there's AI at work, this photo was very obviously worked over). The same people then ask why the photo was pulled from news agencies because they can't distinguish AP News from People magazine.

The Telegraph appears to have the actual file of the photo that was sent and did a digital analysis. They conclude that it was likely multiple images merged.

I had not heard that, but Rose was pregnant when she got married so I’m not sure I believe it. Unless that was part of the coverup since her husband is richer than God.

The photo does seem a little too good to be true, but in my completely amateur opinion, it seems more likely that multiple shots were stitched together to get the best frame for each person.

I’m with you.  I took a photo of my SIL’s family for their x-mas card.  I took probably 20 photos of 6 adults and not one had all of them looking at the camera while smiling and not blinking.  So I swapped out the best version of each of them to creature one card-worthy photo.  It was 90% good and 10% of “why does her thumb bend like that?”

Sp I can see editing a Mother’s Day photo with kids in it.

I really try not to get into conspiracy theories but... I am off the opinion that this photo was taken back in November when they did the food bank video but they altered the clothes in the photo to pass the photo off as a more recent one lol. It would explain George's blurry collar, Charlotte's missing wrist, the glitch in Kate's jacket zipper, and the misaligned pattern on Louis's sleeve (near his shoulder).

Either way, KP needs a new PR team or less yes men/women.

This points out most of the issues, but misses a few (tile floor near youngest son's foot, hair over daughter's shoulder, and a sliver of inconsistent jawline on Kate).

My guess is photo is altered the photo a few different ways... swapping magazine cover for Kate's face (my guess because of weird lighting or something), and swapping pieces from a few different versions of this actual picture to fix various issues with the kids' outfits or the way they were standing.

Whether it was done for purposes of deception or just wanting the perfect photo we'll probably never know... or we'll find out in a tell-all memoir in a decade or two.

That's a discussion that is ongoing in the UK and it's heading more and more toward 'no' in our population. The biggest supporters of the Monarchy are going to be dying in the next 20 years or so. The youth are not supporters, especially with how hard things are right now in the UK - getting money from the gov't/our taxes, when they already have so much and the gov't currently shutting down funding of so much for the less fortunate is galling.

Oh my....listened to the Popcast today & the theories/explanations/backstory are wild.
Apparently William has had a mistress for a decade....
Kate likely had some medical issues + marital issues on-going.
The PR for the competing houses is a disaster.
This is all somehow linked to Charles cancer diagnosis & his actual diagnosis (life span) maybe shorter than anybody is letting on....

Agreed. I imagine a lot of people who have find a sudden following for their crazy theories are going to double down and insist this is fake too, just to hold onto their new social media fame.

I can’t imagine being diagnosed with cancer and trying to process that with three young kids. Then on top of that media around the world is screaming about where you are and what’s wrong with you. She looks so sad and stressed in that video. I think people forget that famous people are still people

Why on earth did the BRF let her take the fall for that photo? Frankly, their PR was a nightmare and I hold the BRF (not Kate) responsible for this nonsense.

Per BBC, they did not have a cancer diagnosis until later on and explains why William left that memorial service - so they must have found out weeks after the surgery and weeks after Charles was diagnosed himself. That edited photo was so unnecessary because if she was out until Easter…fine, post an old photo. The last few weeks of their PR just made zero sense and fanned the flames so I’m not here for any tsk tsks toward anyone who believed the various theories.

Having said all that, this is scary for her and I hope she has a smooth and successful recovery. Even after the internet has been going crazy she didn’t owe anyone this video or information.

I get that she's in a very emotional situation. Cancer with young kids. I can relate from the young kid side. I have a younger friend who just finished her 30 something radiation. Keeping things private is good and normal, but their world isn't good or normal.

The pr around this is plain stupid.

Given that the royal family has been shady on the issue for weeks now, I can see why people might be skeptical of the details being released.

I don’t think she is lying about having cancer. The other details, I have no idea.

The Mother’s Day photo and then blaming it on Kate is even more bizarre now with this info.

I feel like their PR team could have handled this much better.
