I just opened an Alaska mileage card and despite opening it directly from Alaska's website while purchasing tickets, it has been flagged for every attempt to make a purchase as "unusual activity." How can any purchase be "unusual" when its a brand new card? How is buying flights and hotels with a mileage card offering a generous promo "unusual?"
Is BofA's fraud prevention normally this intense? I had to call them 3 times last night to get the card unblocked. I don't want to be at Costco unable to check out or have them determine that buying appliances is unusual (because it is! It'll only be the 2nd stove I've bought). I'm trying to decide if I want to close it before I have to pay the fee.

It happened again tonight ordering pizza. I've made six charges in 3 days and have had to call them 4 times. 33% success is a pretty poor rate. They better not dare to charge me the annual fee when I cancel it in less than 5 days.
