1. Is this a fun place to be in late July/ early August? 2. Recommendations for kid-friendly or kid-centered things (1 kid, 6yo)? 3. Bakery/food recommendations?
I have a work thing and figured I could roll our summer vacation into this trip, so I'd like to bring the family.
We like museums and hiking and eating. It looks like the work thing already has Cherry Creek Park, Denver Zoo, Red-Tailed Hawk Park and the Denver Museum of Nature and Science planned (my family can come to these things). Is 2 or 3 more days added to this too much then?
It can be hot, but it’s not humid here that time of year, so probably more tolerable heat than other places in the country that time of year.
Do you like to hike? You could easily fit in a hike not too far from the City if you wanted. Jeffco open space has multiple parks, Denver mountain parks, roxborough state park, Boulder open space all within short driving distance.
In the city, you could add the children’s museum, meow wolf, art museum, history Colorado, a sports event (Rockies baseball, rapids soccer, or maybe the outlaws or mammoth are also playing that time of year).
Part of a day in golden or Boulder would also be fun, and don’t hesitate to use a local rec center for a pool. Wheat Ridge, golden, apex (Arvada) would all be good options.

mrspez07 We live in Connecticut, so our summers aren't too terrible (hot but not super humid).
It sounds like 2 or 3 days extra would be easily filled with other things, so that's really helpful! I wouldn't have thought about local rec center pool usage, esp if our hotel doesn't have one! Thanks!
The children’s museum and Meow Wolf are great. Wash Park is a fun place to walk around and has multiple playgrounds. Sloan’s Lake in the highlands neighborhood across the highway from downtown would be a good place for a stroll and it’s near Edgewater public market, which has some great food options. Little Man ice cream is nearby too.
Lots of good hiking nearby if that’s your thing. I can recommend some kid-friendly spots on the south side of the city.
Trompeau is a French bakery off Broadway that’s great. I’ve heard excellent things about Blackbox.
Colorado in the summer is awesome. I love it! It’s hot but not generally humid and typically the evenings cool off and it’s great to be outside. Everyone has suggested some really fun things. A Rockies game would be fun if they are in town and even more fun if they are doing well.
