Our boss is retiring. He hired every person in the department and we'd love to get him something personal and special (there are 16 of us). He has some favourite sayings but that won't all fit on a mug. His favourite activities are golf and hockey. Any ideas / suggestions?

We got someone a book from From a Birdie with pictures and notes from everyone and it was well received and treasured. People had to write a note and add pictures but it was pretty easy.
I went on Amazon when my mom retired and just searched for retirement gifts and there was lots of good fun stuff that could work for lots of different interests - I’d try that to see what’s out there.
They donated two prints to our charity event - just nice people and beautiful prints.
ETA: we took one of the prints and had everyone in attendance sign it and we presented it to the honoree (we raised money for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in the name of a patient - gave it to the patient).
If he has a favorite course or if there is a particularly nice course, you can get him some passes, some courses are $$$$. And maybe a gift basket to go along with some good balls, tees, hat... since he will be retired, he will probably be playing.

The last 6 or 8 people that have retired from my group have received books from Newlywords. I think it's similar to sandandsea's recommendation.
The one person that was a golfer that retired was given a year membership to a fancy golf course in his area. The most common gifts are alcohol. This last round of retirees also received something personalized from Tiffany & Co.
