We finally (finally!) have our 1/2 bath sink and vanity installed. Yay! It's only been 13+ months since we demo'ed the room, lol. About 12 of those months we had a toilet installed but nothing else. So over it!
Anyway. What we did was somewhat usual: we had a bathroom vanity retrofitted to accept a kitchen sink (9" deep), and we have a kitchen faucet, which is much taller than a bath faucet. In addition to the obvious use as a bathroom sink, I will use it for plant watering, laundry soaking, etc., in lieu of a laundry or utility sink, and for other things I don't really want to tie up the kitchen sink for (or have near food prep). The laundry room is just outside the bath and doesn't have a place for a sink.
I need to choose a mirror for over this somewhat atypical arrangement. I think roughly 24x24 is about the right size. This would come in just below the light shades, and go behind the faucet to about the line where the pull down piece is separable from the neck.
What do you think of this mirror, or is it too heavy handed on the hexes for this room? It is 22" wide x 25.75" high.
I was thinking it might be ideal, because the faucet might not hit the mirror if it is pushed back toward the wall, because of the pointed bottom edge.
If you aren't a fan, what would you do instead? Here is the space/finishes.
I like it! The only thing that gives me pause is the faucet being even with the tip of the mirror. But I don't think any alternatives would look too different when you think about it. I would probably make sure the point is lined up exactly with the faucet though. If it is off even by a smidge, it would drive me nuts.
ETA - perhaps a long rectangle that goes almost to the vanity (or the line on the faucet where the base connects to the neck) might look better. Less chance to be "off".
ETA again - just clicked on your lowes link and saw how they displayed it with the points on the side instead of on the bottom. I think I like that way better.
I like the shape, but what is the finish? In your first pic it almost looks too warm against the stainless faucet; not sure if that would be the case with your faucet?
Also, how wide is your vanity? I’d caution against going too small; ideally I think you’d want something almost as wide as the vanity (like, wider then the light fixture but a bit narrower then the vanity).
Maybe you could could tape it out on the wall with painter’s tape to get an idea of whether it would be too much hexagon with the floor?
I personally would probably chicken out and do a large rectangle because I’d be worried that the hexagon would be too much going on with the tall faucet but are you worried about having mirror all the way across near the faucet and getting splashed all the time?
momin2013, the finish is a concern, it says "silver" but it's hard to know if that would look good with the brushed nickel faucet.
orval, I admit I'm worried about the points lining up too. I could consider rotating it... or maybe the rectangle would be safer. I'd rather the mirror go behind the faucet and have to wipe it down periodically from splashes, than have it stay above the faucet. I think that would look funny, and end up being a really short/wide mirror.

Is the mirror directly across from the toilet? If so, keep it high. Nothing is worse than having to watch yourself (or trying NOT to watch yourself) on the toilet. This is knowledge I truly wish I didn't have.

No, the sink and toilet are on the same wall. You can see just a little of the toilet bowl next to the cabinet.

Oh, I forgot there were pictures in this thread. Sorry!
I am unsure. I like the mirror, but i feel like it might be too much going on in the small space and hard to figure out exactly at what height to hang it. Honestly, I might just have a glass/mirror place do a large, plain rectangular wall mirror there so you get more reflective space/light in the room and don't have another competing design element?? But I might be totally wrong on this!
We made a decision! I ended up choosing an octagon, because I agreed with those who thought it would look better (and would be more forgiving on centering) if the flat surfaces of the polygon faced up/down, vs. the points, but I didn't think I would like turning the hexagon on its side, because then the mirror would be wider than it is tall. The counter is already high for a bathroom sink, so I didn't want to emphasize that with a short/wide mirror.
This one also has a beveled edge with no frame, so I don't need to worry about whether the "silver" frame matches the brushed nickel fixtures. The 28" height should almost max out the available space from backsplash to the bottom of the light shade. Hopefully it looks ok.
As a bonus, it was a relatively inexpensive option at about $78!
