I was considering putting this in the weight loss injection post, but didn't want to derail that discussion. I also tried searching, but you know how the search function sucks.
Since I've lost almost 50lbs (!!!), the girls are sagging a bit more than I'd like, and the bras I have, while nice and stretchy and comfortable, are not doing the girls any favors. I really, really despise underwires, so I'd rather avoid those if possible. I know I need to be re-measured, but I'm guessing I'm about a 36-38 D now. I have bought bras from online before, and there are ones I like, but I'd love to hear what you have purchased recently that you love.
Have you bought any from Instagram or FB?
I can always go to Nordstrom and be fitted, but I don't have a ton of time with work and our house being in shambles with our remodels and stuff still going on.
ThirdLove is my favorite. I have a couple of their t-shirt bras, a plunge style, a front close one that can be worn as a racer back, and also a couple of their wireless styles. The wireless ones have a pretty snug band, which helps with support. I am smaller (B-1/2 or C) though so can't vouch for support at the D cup size.
I bought a Honeylove bra and like it. I accidentally got it a little bit large and wish I could have tried them on. I do like it enough that I would try again in the correct size.
Bras are a mystery to me. I’ve never found ones that are supportive and comfortable, no matter if I get fitted or measure myself.
And I have (more than once) been measured and then they bring the bras in my measured size, only surprise, they aren’t my size! (I told you that when you measured me!) and then the lady is trying to guess my size just like I am!!! Argh.
I hate bras with a passion. I've been making do with a couple of soft sports bra type things without the compression for years and even hate wearing those.
But I am following this thread because there are some events coming up for which I will need an actual bra. Maybe the unicorn bra will surface in this thread...
I have a few from Underoutfit that work well. They have 180-day return/exchange and it’s super-easy to get different sizes to try. They don’t have you ship back anything you’ve tried on, they just ask that you donate or give away, and refund anyway.
I also have two of the Honeylove crossover bras that are all over social media right now. They’re comfy, and have decent shaping.
A friend has recommended Third Love to me. I've been pregnant or nursing since 2021 though so I haven't bothered trying them myself yet. My current plan is to try them out once I'm done nursing in a few years!
I just got an unlined bra from Skims that I love. I’m self conscious about my breasts and I hate anything that makes them look bigger so any sort of padding or lining makes me hate bras even more. I use silicon shields to hide the nips.
FWIW there a Reddit group A Bra That Fits which has an extremely detailed, thorough measurement method and calculator that is unlike any I’ve ever tried but it was SPOT ON for me. There’s also tons of great advice for different breast types and shapes. The Irish Bra Lady on Insta also gives fantastic advice and posts pics of sizes (based off the Reddit fitting method) so you can see how different sizes look and how way off we are in mainstream retail.
Measuring for a bra is only part of the fitting. A lot of brands fit differently depending on where they’re based and European vs US sizing and pattern. Your best bet is a specialty store if you have one.
I love Chantelle bras, but I <gasp> wear underwire bras about half the week.
I love Tommy John wireless and randomly grabbed a wireless dkny at the rack that fits fantastically.
I can’t give a specific rec because I mainly wear underwire. But since you’ve had such a big size change, I would say take the time to go for a fitting. Then you can explore which brands fit you best. When I went for a fitting at Nordstrom, I tried on probably a dozen brands and was amazed at how differently brands fit. It’s so much easier to go knock out a bunch in person rather than order and send back a million bras.
I used to really like ThirdLove but something changed and they're too wide and the straps don't sit on my shoulders correctly. I'm a weird size it seems (32DDD)
The best bra ever is Natori Bliss Perfection. I love this bra so much. It fits so nicely and it's comfortable. I don't ache by the end of the day. I've also accidentally slept in it and never noticed because it's just that comfortable. Someone here recommended it years ago. I usually buy it on Amazon or Nordstrom (so you could go and try it on in person if that's an option)
For “regular “ bras, I’ve been happy with thee Bliss bra by Auden and for t-shirts, I like the True & Co bras (both from Target). They’re kind of sports bra like, but thinner. I’ve been intrigued by Cakes body lately, but I’m sure it was just a few IG ads that I’ll soon forget about. TBF, I’m probably a 34/36 A/AA/AAA so different needs, but it’s not like they’re naturally perky anymore after nearly 4 years combined of breastfeeding. But I feel like they both give a nice life and support, so may be worth a try.

I’ve always 10000% wanted underwire, but I just got some wireless ones from soma that are great. They do not minimize though, so I got a comment from a coworker and now I’m worried my chest looks too good for work
Soma bras have always been my favorite but sadly, I have sized out of them at the moment. Apparently you're not supposed to have a small band and giant breasts at the same time.
I have had no idea what my right bra size is for years-- I've tried different measurements and they are ok but nothing is particularly comfortable.
I like the bra I linked because it's just s/m/l/xl, not bra sizing. I'm probably somewhere in the 38D territory and xl fits me perfectly and is very comfortable.
picksthemusic, I am similar, I just hit 80# loss and finally decided to get myself a bra that made me look less droopy, haha. I HATE spending money on bras though, and like you, I despise underwire. I measured myself according to various bra websites and it turns out my sizing is very different than what I thought I was!
I went cheap at walmart and got two bras in 38B and so far, very comfy! One is Warners and the other hanes. Again, I do not have huge breasts that need a lot of support, it is fully for comfort and just a little lift, and I am cheap, but they are working great for me--mainly because I actually measured myself.
I highly suggest going to a specialty lingerie store and getting properly fitted for a bra. The women who work there are experts and should be able to find bra(s) that are not only comfortable, but also functional. While there are wire free options that will work, the wires are what really help to lift and separate the boobs.
After getting properly fitted for bras, I was shocked at not only how comfortable a well fitting bra is, but also how much better I look in clothes.

Thanks everyone! All the boutique lingerie places that I would want to go to are kind of far for me. I'll probably start with Nordstrom since I am familiar with them and their brands. I appreciate all the suggestions!
I recently bought all new bras and loved the ones I got from honeylove and lively. From honeylove I got the crossover and from lively I got the plunge, spacer bra, and long lined lace bralette. I really like them all and no underwire! I’ve always worn underwire and am sort of amazed I like all these so much!
I really like the shape that Costco's Puma brand sports bras give me. They also smooth out the middle age fluff under my arms where the band sits. They don't have a clasp and come in XS-XL or XXL.

Nordstrom has trained bra fitters.
Yes, I know. I have vast experience with them - I used to be a J cup before I had my breast reduction surgery in 2007. It’s so nice to not have to worry about not finding a bra off the rack anymore!
picksthemusic - I had a really good experience at the Soma at the mall that's by us (assuming you still live by me!) I've been really impressed with the soma enbliss wireless bra. I don't think I'll ever wear an underwire bra again. they have a 60 day return policy which I really appreciated after having an augmentation as I wasn't really sure what was going to be comfortable.
