So glad that I got those many hours of sleep on Friday night. Cooper (our dog) came back from the dog sitter last night. And he proceeded to throw up at 5.30am this morning. I haven't been able to go back to sleep since. Bah! Love this dog and missed him, but it wasn't a great start to having him back. Ugh.
I thought maybe listening to it again would satisfy whatever itch my brain is trying to scratch. But there are more musical cat videos and now I'm down the cutest rabbit hole ever 😁
My husband was going to take both kids to breakfast and out for a fun activity today, giving me like five blissful hours to do whatever. Alas, kid 1 woke up with a 103 fever.
We got back from London on Friday evening, and on top of jet lag I also picked up some kind of bug toward the end of our visit, and I’m on day 3 of a fever that hit right in the middle of our flight home. I feel like absolute garbage.
The trip was great. We did so much. In fact, overdoing it probably contributed to getting sick.
Up early again to take this dog we’re sitting out. It is SO windy here, like 60+ mph gusts, so I am not looking forward to her walks today.
Winnie has a fabric kennel, which she chewed a hole through yesterday while we were out with DS1 and his friends at a trampoline place. She’s never done anything like that before, but it was absolute chaos right before we left and I made her pee and popped her in there, she she was probably understandably amped up. Anyway, since that’s where she’s slept since we got her, we went ahead and put her in bed with us last night. As far as I know thus far, she was great. Slept through the night in our bed. Didn’t get down or pee on the floor. And she’s still asleep and quiet at almost 6:30. Seems like we might have a new bed buddy.
Since we have no plans today I’m looking forward to getting home and just sitting and drinking coffee while I figure out what needs to get done errand-wise.
DS is still sleeping which is unheard of for him. Tonsil/sinus surgery really did a number on him last week. Yesterday he was finally up to eating more than a few bites of yogurt. I’m hoping when he gets up I can convince him to eat some pancakes.
I did a ton of laundry yesterday. Today will be grocery shopping and paperwork. H leaves on Tuesday for 8 days in Thailand visiting his brother, so I want to get ahead of all household stuff before then.
I ordered 3 pairs of pants online (from literally the only company I can buy pants) and from what the tracking #s are telling me, they have never been received by any shipping company. So what the hell does that mean? I paid for 3-4 day shipping, and that was almost 2 weeks ago.
I'm going to have to call them, aren't I? That makes me SO MAD. Just send my f-ing pants. I am considering it a loss, that even if they're all like, "we will send them right out", I'm just going to say, "Nah, bruh, thanks but no thanks, please refund me".
I’ve just dx myself with a weird (IMO) kind of avoidance. I mean; we’re all avoidant to a degree, right? Who want to do shit, especially anything that requires effort with not a lot of reward.
Anyway, there’s a ton I’ve been avoiding. A simple text to my hairdresser to reschedule an appointment in May. A less simple reach out to the insurance company about their incompetence to understand my secondary submittal. Home projects that I usually love. Shopping for things I want/need!
But then I feel unproductive and lazy/guilty. So what do I do? Work. On a Sunday morning instead of scrolling on the internet or watching a show, I chose to do actual job work, so I felt less guilt, but refused to do non-job “work”.
Finally got off my butt yesterday and got all of the chores/errands done and decided to skip church this morning, so I'm drinking coffee and waiting for crumb cake to bake (it's national coffee cake day, lol). The house smells so good!
Afternoon is going to be broken up by kid drop offs and pick ups. I have to make basically the same 30 minute round trip four times 🙄
We had science olympiad states yesterday. I have a lot to grumble about, but first- DD medaled in her favorite event (disease detectives)! It was the only medal on her team last night, and she also beat her school's "better" team with the 9th graders). I'm so proud of her!
Most things went as they always do, though. The way some parents use money and connections to buy every advantage in education makes my skin crawl. There is no fairness when the coach of a public team has to earn a CDL to drive a district school bus because they otherwise cant afford transportation, while privates and big charter teams roll up in custom painted charter busses with Nvidia sponsorships in their bulging pockets.
I am so proud of our teams, the kids are all fantastic assets to the world and are so bright and funny and kind. I just hope their schools can afford to keep participating as the costs to do so continue to rise, so many public schools here have just stopped trying already.

My kid had his last robotics competition of the year yesterday. They didn't do well. Oh well he had fun! And frankly I'm glad the season is done.
Today it's gross and rainy. We need the rain but I'm ready for warmer spring weather! We had a super warm winter and now spring feels so cold and slow.

Also! Someone in a professional networking FB group asked for a work formal dress recommendation. I suggested Macy's. Someone responded and said Macy's is terrible and there are so much better options and Macy's is for boomers. HOW RUDE! 1. Macy's is a pretty normal store. 2. I made the recommendation from personal experience of buying a work formal dress at Macy's.
It's our last day in Ireland and we are all laying in bed. 2 of my sisters and their husbands are doing the same in their rooms It's been quite a trip! Last night was the family party we came for and there were 100+ family members. There was lots of singing before I went up to my room at 1am. It went on until 2:30. Husband and son had tapped out around 11. LOL More catching up at breakfast this morning and tonight those of us still around are getting together for dinner. Tomorrow am we drive to Dublin for our flight home. I can't believe how much we've done this week. Tears will flow when I have to leave again.

Anyone who uses the word boomer is a dick, so just disregard!
It’s still a little chilly and windy here which is putting a damper on the plan we had for the visit to my dad’s of playing yard games to fill the time. I can bring some board games but they haven’t been as successful as the yard ones. But if we don’t do something my dad and brother (and whoever they invite) don’t really interact or do anything despite their wanting us all to get together. Games help us not leave ten minutes in!
At least Costco is on the way home and we can run in without planning our day around it. When will we get our own Costco??
jlt19 I totally relate to the avoidance post! Wtf brain- I’m so far behind on the most random things. And I only sort of care.
I’m failing at this puppy parent thing. Having a rough week and sort of wishing a puppy fairy would come and scoop her up for a little while. I’m sure this is totally flameful, but in part along with my avoidance, I’m just not enjoying having a dog as much as I had hoped/planned/imagined. In the puppy’s defense, she was attacked by a dog on Monday and I’m sure it’s not her fault that she’s regressed with some of the things she had going positively for her. She has a behavior exam with the vet tomorrow and I’m hoping she is optimistic about some ongoing stuff.
WrestleMania has been big news in our area. H and DS were close to the city yesterday so the stopped to watch some of the public events on South Street.
Then DS wanted to watch the show last night on tv. I will admit that I started off rolling my eyes. Then totally got into it. Jason Kelce! The Rock! The outfits! The entrances! The super goofy fighting! It was way more fun than I was expecting.

I love Macys. I get my 15yo a ton of things there (quiksilver, reef, rip curl, Hurley) so not boomer! What were her recs?
I need a name for my new betta. He is a white/magenta and purple half moon, very pretty. His tank mate will be a blue mystery snail named Curacao. Our previous pair were Turks and Caicos. Caicos is enormous and got moved to a bigger tank and Turks moved on to bluer waters last month. I was thinking Aruba but it doesn't seem to be sticking.
I have been eating so badly the last couple of weeks - like yesterday all I had other than breakfast was candy, popcorn, and pizza. I was tired last night and realized that it might be because I ate like a 10 year old boy yesterday instead of a nearly 42 year old woman. I think being jet lagged and then easter candy and other random things in the last couple of weeks just meant I was not well prepared to make healthy meals. So, this week I am going to try to reset! The candy is gone so I just need to not replace it. I never used to even be a candy person so I need to go back to that.
Today I have a lot of random things I want to get done, and I also am supposed to have a couple of phone dates. We will see if I can stay on top of it all. I always just feel like laying around on Sundays!

Today I’m going to look at a townhouse that is at the top of my budget, but my dad really wants me to see it. It’s in a great complex and is really very nice.
After that I’m taking DD to her end of season hockey party at a roller rink. If one were are good roller skater in the 1980’s, is like riding a bike where one would remember how? Asking for a friend. 😂

You can do it! We had a roller party for adults and people who hadn’t done it in years picked it back up again quickly.
