I'm working today after taking a 4 day weekend and I am dragging. I'm trying to work my way through all of the emails, thankfully a lot of them I am just copied on. It's so much work just to take a few days off.
Last day off for Mom’s visit. We have a few appointments to go to and then this evening we’re picking up a U-Haul to get a couch I found on FB Marketplace. 🤞🏻 it doesn’t rain on us.
My RTR dress for the Prom Night wedding this weekend came in and hoo boy, is it short! Not stretchy at all so it’s not the MOST comfortable (the sleeves are so tight it’s making me feel bad about my forearms 🤣) but I don’t have a backup and pain is beauty right? lol

I am basking in the fact that I am home alone right now. This hasn't happened for almost 2 weeks at this point thanks to a super long spring break + eclipse. I'm having a hard time actually getting work done, I just want to sit on my couch and do nothing! It is beautiful weather here today though, so I really need to get the dogs out for a walk and stay out in the sunshine for a bit. Maybe after lunch...

I’m sad that tax season is wrapping up. Today, is my last weekday volunteering session for the second organization. I have one more session on Saturday with my primary organization. This was a humbling and rewarding experience. I forgot how much I love the accounting type jobs. I cannot wait to get back into my preferred profession next week with my new job.
I thought I was dropping my 4.5 yr old on a field trip today but turns out I was volunteering lol. That was a very interesting surprise to me. As I also had DS2 with me since I was just going to do errands with him. 🤣😅🫠

My degree is in accounting, but for almost 20 years I was a buyer for various foodservice companies. Just last August, I took a position in accounting and I absolutely love it. I completely understand where you're coming from. Congrats on finding what makes you happy!!

Oh my god. That’s what nightmares are made of. I occasionally feel bad for DS. I learned a lot with DD. I no longer volunteer with school events. I let the other first time parents handle it.

Today is the second day of homeschool for Wesley, it’s going pretty well, he is even asking to start school earlier than the 9am start time I gave him.
I’m glad I pulled him. He really slipped through the cracks of public school. Sigh. What do parents do when they don’t have the ability to give them this option? I mean, I know what happens but my god it’s depressing. Since we’re doing a modified version of homeschool, we do have an assigned teacher who is quite possibly the nicest person on earth. It’s really freeing to not have the burden of sending my kid to a place that makes him feel horrible. Between this and his tutor who is also incredibly wonderful, patient, kind, I’m excited for him and his education.

I’m supposed to be a guest on a podcast today but I still haven’t gotten the call in number or instructions.
They had asked me months ago if I’d be willing to be a guest and gave me a range of dates/times. I said when I’d be available but then didn’t hear back. I thought maybe we weren’t doing it and didn’t care enough to follow up tbh but they sent me questions to preview last night and said we were recording today.
I don’t even know how long it’s going to be? Or the exact time. It’s throwing off my morning.
I feel like I say this a lot lately but I can't believe how slow this week is going. Like how is it only Tuesday?!?! I think because my weekends have been so busy & I don't feel like I've had a break so every week just rolls into the next and it's like Groundhog Day or something. Normally kid has volleyball practice Tuesday nights but it's cancelled for tonight so I get a bit of a break tonight.
Our dishwasher is still broken so I've had to hand wash dishes & that's one of my least favorite chores so I've been letting them pile up a bit too much so I keep punishing myself by waiting LOL Thankfully the repair person is coming on Thursday so I hope it's resolved then. It's under warranty and the one guy was trying to talk me into just returning it to the store versus him trying to get someone out to look at it - ummm no thanks my dude, that's a LOT more work on my end. Plus we'd have to pay to have a new one installed and I'm not into that if I can avoid it!

We started our gardening and flowers badges last night at scouts and we played a game called “Eat or Yeet!”
It was basically me trolling our picky eaters who have made campout eating a PITA since day one. I say that in jest - as a mom of a picky eater, I understand it’s not always a power struggle or cut and dry why a kid is picky or has safe foods.
We were learning about our state’s agricultural strengths. I would give them 3 hints and they’d have to guess the food. If you guessed it, you were safe. If you didn’t guess or got it wrong, you had to eat a small portion of whatever food I was describing.
I gave points for eating a whole portion, eating a few bites, and eating a mouse nibble or licking the item. They always had the option to yeet that sucker straight into the bin if they weren’t going to eat it.
The competition made them into vacuums. I watched them eat pumpkin straight from a can without flinching 🤣 raw Brussels sprouts, corn, edamame, etc. It was fantastic. I got told it was the worst game ever while they were laughing their heads off, holding their noses, and shotgunning water to get the bad taste out of their mouths. So much fun to be a taskmaster, lol.
DD is having social issues at school YET AGAIN! She witnessed a group of kids saying mean things about another student and reported it, and now she has become the target because she got them in trouble. Kids who weren't even involved confronted her while in class and told her it was "just an inside joke, DO YOU UNDERSTAND?"
The student who was being made fun of was out, but his grandmother helps at the school and told my daughter that he has been getting bullied by these kids. We told her that we are SO proud of her but she is like wtf, I keep standing up for people but no one stands up for me.
I hate, hate, hate this age. I get that kids are testing boundaries and trying to fit in socially but my kid has come home crying that she has no friends multiple times and I just want to burn it all down.

FI got a tetanus shot yesterday. OMG the fussing about how much it hurts. I know it does, I've had one recently, but he's being more dramatic than when he cut his head open and had to get it glued shut a few weeks ago.
meanie, honestly I think all of that is the HARDEST part of being a parent! I'm here in solidarity. When my kid tells me about the shit that goes down at school I have to bite my tongue to not say something but to H I'm all "WTF is wrong with some people's kids?!?!" I keep reminding my kid that she doesn't have to be friends with everyone but it's never ok to be unkind but in my head I'm wondering why the other parents aren't doing something similar...

That is a fun dress TR, looks great on you. Hope you have a blast in it.
Dividing and conquering here. I'm taking DS2 and DD to my alma mater to see Shrek the Musical. Going to have dinner at my favorite bar beforehand and we'll get to walk across the beautiful campus. DH will go to DS1's track meet. Didn't know meet dates when I bought the show tickets for all 5 of us. I don't want to deal with taking two kid friends since it is a school night and we won't get home till 11. DD is taking her skip day tomorrow, but DS2 and DS1 already used theirs so they will go.
Thank you She is 10, in 5th. I know this is juuuust the beginning with middle school around the corner
Good lord, isn’t 5th grade dramatic? And they’re all just a bunch of mean ol’ snakes.
I’m proud of your daughter. That takes a lot of guts. I hope she feels like she has a solid place in the social order with buddies sooner rather than later. It’s unfortunate that doing the right thing can often feel so isolating.

It’s even worse - it was outdoors in a nature playground. And we had thunderstorms last night. I was wearing jeans and running shoes to run errands. I hate mud. If I knew, I would have worn a very different outfit.

I only left accounting due to being laid off. I am looking forward to being back in my profession. Ironically, my degree was originally accounting. I pivoted to logistics during Covid.
