I just finished Death at the Manor by Katharine Schellman, third in a series. I liked the second one better (didn’t read the first) — this one was a little slow and I didn’t really care about the mystery. I think I’m going to reread Station Eleven next, because weirdly it’s a comfort-food book for me.
QOTW: both. Cats are hilarious furry little jerks and I so miss having one. Dogs are loving and needy and sweet.
I read Over the Woodward Wall by A. Deborah Baker (aka Seanan McGuire). It's the first in a quartet of shorter novels (much like Wayward Children) but not quite as dark. I enjoyed it and found it to be good escapism for a rough week.
I'll start the most recent Murderbot book soon, because the MC always makes me laugh.
QOTW: I've always had both but I would lean dogs if I had to choose. Cats have the benefit of being low maintenance (well, some of them...) but dogs are better companions.
I'm torturing myself with this question because we had to put our 11-year-old dog to sleep on Tuesday after she declined very rapidly from what they think was brain tumor.

Finished Gallant, which I really enjoyed. It got a lot of meh reviews, but I thought it was just the right amount of spooky and perfectly old school Gothic.
Still reading Bacchanal, which is fine. It has a lot of cool Yoruban mythology which I wasn't expecting, but I like.
Started listening to Little Thieves, which is a Goose Girl retelling from the servant's POV.
QOTW: Are you a cat person or a dog person? Or neither? I'm both. I've had both. I love both.
