I have so many but for some reason what's jumping out at me is Today's Special. The lady worked in a clothing shop and the male mannequin came to life after hours and they would sing and dance iirc. I feel like it was possibly a Canadian show?
I watched it in Florida. "Today's special. Shout it loud and clear!" At least I think that was the jingle. I feel like it came on around the same time as bram's elephant show.
The Bozo Show and Romper Room. I was an at home player for the grand prize game while my friend appeared on Romper Room.
The Bozo show was the one with the buckets right? Kids lined up and tossed a ball in from the end. The further they got, the better the prize?
Yes. They called down one boy abd one girl from the audience and they each drew a boy/girl from a big wheel and whatever they won the at home player won. Bozo always dropped a crisp $100 bill into the last bucket and it sounded like shattering glass when it hit.
Oh lord I just remembered Degrassi Jr. High/ Degrassi High. There are a bunch of old episodes on YouTube.
I can't express how in love 13-year-old me was with Joey Jeremiah.
Zit Remedy forever ♥
When our middle school health teacher didn't want to teach he'd put on a Degrassi Jr High. It was always a great day to walk in and see that TV on a cart in his room.

ETA: You're right that it aired around the same time as early years of The Elephant Show.
Not sure if you ever watched Mr Dressup but there is a wonderful documentary about Ernie Coombs on Prime.
I wasn't saying that to say it wasn't Canadian. We also watched you can't do (say?) that on television
I just wanted to confirm it wasn't a figment of imagination. Mr wizard was in the same line up.
I know. pinkyp was wondering if it was a Canadian show so I was just confirming. I think a bunch of CanCon must have been picked up by Nickelodeon or similar because there were a few shows that featured an entirely (or nearly) Canadian cast, filmed in Montreal or Toronto, shown on Canadian TV but obviously crossed the border into mainstream US TV too.
I was talking with H last night about The Facts of Life because Mindy (don’t remember her last name) is on Palm Royale and it brought to mind one of my favorites as a kid, Rags to Riches.
I still remember being super pissed off as a kid when Rags to Riches was interrupted for Baby Jessica coverage. 😉
The soap opera talk reminded me of the most wonderfully ridiculous one ever - Passions!
OMG my college roomie and me were obsessed with Passions! Tabitha and Timmy forever! lol

Today’s Special aired on our local PBS station in the afternoons. The music is super earwormy!
Can someone help me remember the name of this old show? My H and I were talking about it a few weeks ago and neither of us can remember! It had to have been at least 10 years ago, but maybe more.
People were eliminated each week. The finale was a couple, and each had to decide at the end to keep or share the money. If they both chose keep, I think the money was split between everyone that had been kicked off? If one chose keep, then that person got it all. If they both chose share, they split the pot. There may have been multiple seasons, but in the one I remember, one person voted to keep and one voted to share and it was a huge drama because they had “agreed” to share and the second person ended up with nothing.
to this day, if I could wish for a super power, it would be to stop time like Evie.
I'm only through page 2 of this thread so far, and yet I feel like the bee girl in Blind Melon's "No Rain" video finding my people <3. To this day I dream of Evie's powers to stop time so I can sleep in, lol. I may have watched a couple of episodes on You Tube, but fair warning they're kind of spotty.
I LOOOOVED Passions and stuck it out far longer than I should have. One of my best (male) friends actually bought Tabitha's book when it came out at Wal-Mart, but I never read it. Now for bonus points can anyone tell me what the lady Doctor's (Whitney's dad) had in that shed he always ran off too? Did they ever show it?
My roommate in college also tried her best to plan her class schedule around Passions (2 PM), and General Hospital (3 PM), and would be so pissed if we had a class that only had one timeslot in that block.
Degrassi is on Freeve...I may have re-watched allll the way to the bitter end of the Netflix spin-off when I was on FMLA and then beyond. So many teen stars came out of that show including Drake.
Does anyone remember "Undressed" on MTV late nights? It was hit or miss when it was on, but it was so cheesy it was good.

Oh and what was the MTV dating show where the parents were involved, I think trying to set you up with someone better than your current, terrible ex? I just remember someone always going "unfortunatellllly" like dragging it out that they had to eliminate someone.
Wasn't there an MTV show as well where they raided someone's room? Goodness MTV really went all in on the horrible shows, and yet I helped keep them on the air, lol.

Early childhood tv really stuck with me probably because our parents hardly let us watch tv so we were limited to what we saw at other people’s houses. My US grandma VHS taped tons of stuff for us, and I spent most of my elementary years in Canada.
You Can’t Do That On Television was aired in the U.S. on Nickelodeon (maybe later years compared to when it aired in Canada). The Polka Dot Door was like a weird fever dream because nobody I know has ever heard of it (but my sisters confirm it was real).
For US shows, the Disney Faerie Tale Theatre with Shelly Duvall (particularly The Snow Queen), episodes of Captain Kangaroo and The Huggabunch movie live rent free in my brain to this day.
For soap operas my high school friends and I watched the worst of the worst, Passions.
ellipses84 yes! The Polka Dot Door was so bizarre. I had nightmares about the Polkaroo!
I really think the 80s were a golden age in quality kids programming otherwise. So many good shows. You got the later seasons of long running shows like Friendly Giant and Mr Dressup, but also Fred Penner, the Elephant Show, Canadian Sesame Street. Fun fact that a number of these performers were American - Mr Dressup was, so was Lois of Sharon, Lois and Bram. Plus that show frequently featured a performer named Eric Nagler who came to Canada as a draft dodger.
It was a (non-scripted) cheerleading camp and I bet it was only on the air for a month or two. I've never heard confirmation that this show exists outside of my roommate who I watched it with.
As my dog was thundering up the stair last night, a thought came into my head - THUNDER CATS. Anyone remember that animation?
occasionally the theme song pops in my head.
I used to go to a restaurant that had a really nice bar for solo dining. They had 2 tvs, no sound. One played sports and the other 80s cartoons like he-man and thunderstorms.
I remember re-watching Salute Your Shorts when I was in college (probably 2005ish) and being shocked at how few episodes there were in the whole series. But I'm pretty sure I still found it entertaining....

I went to a camp with a similar name of anawana, so I'd substitute my campus name in the song That and hey dude were some of the only TV I watched at whatever she I was when it aired.
When I was in pre school to about 2nd, it was Mr wizard at breakfast and fraggle rock at dinner.
Do you remember the movie Nuthin' But Trouble with John Candy and Demi Moore (oh and Digital Underground!)? This movie will continue to haunt me in my dreams.

I don't know Nuthin' But Trouble, but I LOVED Camp Candy the cartoon. I recently searched and it doesn't seem to stream anywhere
