I'm tired of being charged for Apple care, plus charged by my phone carrier, etc for insurance on my phones and tablets. I need coverage for 4 phones, 2 smart watches, and 2 tablets. Has anyone used Upsie? Google tells me that Allstate might offer coverage like that and I already use them for home and car insurance. Any other suggestions to save a few dollars and hopefully a headache?
Do you really need insurance? I have never had any on my devices. I would just put that money in savings and have it available if I need it. Some things are easy to repair like a screen (my young teen ds did his own $30 or so). That is the only repair we have ever had to do across a similar number of devices as you have.
I got insurance from allstate when I bought my son a new phone. I haven't had to use it so I don't know how good it is. But I didn't know there was a deductible until after I purchased it so it might not even be worth it, so know all the details before choosing.
I think it's probably easier to do it with the carrier directly. I'm not sure what steps there are to get the phone fixed if I needed to, but if it was any kind of a hassle I'm sure I wouldn't do it. I paid for Dell care on son's laptop and when we needed to use it they took care of it all, shipped me a box and sent the laptop back right away. If it was on me to get a box and get it to them it orobably woukdn't have happened. I guess also just make sure that it's easy to use if you go with someone else.

+1
Someday I might have a device/situation where I'd have been better off with apple care, but in total over the years I'm definitely better off without it when I think of all the devices I haven't needed it on.
I'm considering putting AppleCare on my new phone I just got. I've never, ever broken or cracked a screen until my last phone that I got last year (14 pro). The back screen cracked and started separating and was bumpy even in the case and I was looking at least a $500 repair. We ended up switching carriers and I'm in the process of trading that phone in, but it's been very annoying. I've been reading that newer phones are prone to this back crack issue.
I use apple care for my phone for the first two years because I've met myself before. I don't insure anything else.
Same. Except I usually finance my phones so I always keep insurance coverage through my carrier at least until the phone is paid off. I've only ever used it once for myself, and that was this past fall when I "lost" my phone. I've used it twice for DS because he is really hard on his phones.

We had coverage through a CC for electronics. I got a new phone and promptly dropped it and broke the phone the first week.
It was a huge time suck and a massive pain in the butt to get it reimbursed. It reinforced my previous opinion that I wouldn't get insurance on any of that, I'd just pay to fix or replace as needed.

Anyone who doesn't need insurance doesn't need it, until you really fucking need it!
AppleCare is a godsend...my colleague ran over his Macbook pro, and they replaced it for $200.
I broke a brand new phone, paid like $150 to replace it. A new one would've been $800 at the time, so I'd have to pay $1600 for a broken phone and a new phone. That $7 a month was worth it until the phone was paid off.

FYI: you can't trade in a iPhone that you've replaced the screen outside of Apple or an authorized repair shop (unless the person who does the trade doesn't care lol).
My H got me a new MacBook for Christmas last year and I somehow broke the screen after a couple of months. I had no idea how I did it and the guy at the Apple Store said the magnetic charger probably was loose and in the fold when I closed it so it crunched the screen. We've always gotten AppleCare for our devices and I feel we've probably came out on top when all was said and done. Maybe we're a clumsy family, lol.
