I’m sorry. What a shitty way to find out. Please call tomorrow and see if they have an earlier appointment. Know you have a board full of middle aged women here sending you all the good thoughts and love.
So sorry to hear this. As someone who has been through this shit twice, I would recommend NOT Googling anything as you're not going to read a thing that makes you feel better. Stage I means a good chance at survival so that's something positive.
Ask if you can get a referral to an oncologist now instead of waiting for your appointment; also, ask for something for anxiety/sleep NOW. Your mind is going to be racing at night and you need your sleep. Feel free to PM me if you'd like to talk or vent.

I’m so sorry for that diagnosis, I’ll bet they will see you sooner now that this report is back, or at least get you set up with the appropriate care. Wishing you strength as you navigate this.
I'm so very sorry to hear this, and for the really horrible way you found out. I hope you can get some good information from your medical team ASAP. Sending you all the good internet vibes!
I'm so sorry, both that that's the info, and that you found out via a portal. They should have called you, at least. I hope you're able to get in soon so you can get your questions answered and get started on a path forward. <3
Just adding this info for people who don’t know. During the Trump administration there was a law passed that results are to get automatically released to patients electronic records. So if you ever don’t want to know results and want to wait for a discussion with your doctor it is recommended not to log in to your patient portal (or don’t create one). I generally find out results when they’re uploaded in to the system at the same time the patient does if it’s a system that’s directly connected to our location. Most major medical health systems do all of their things in house (blood work, imaging, pathology, etc), so the doctor and patient get the results at the same time. This is a federal law.
I hope you can get in earlier to get your questions answered and ease your mind a bit.
I'm glad it's stage 1. Kidney cancer is very treatable. My mom had stage 1 (not sure the exact type) and had to have a kidney removed (she had a softball sized tumor) and no chemo or radiation.

Lots of strength to you during this time. Keep on truckin’. I hope the path ahead is smooth and your treatment plan kicks cancer straight in the kidneys.
Hugs to you. Hopefully they are able to get in sooner and get some answers.
My mom had a kidney removed 25y ago due to a tumor and all was well, until about 4y ago. They figure there were a few stray cells that stayed dormant for awhile but then manifested into renal cell carcinoma (I'm not sure whether or not hers is papillary, I haven't heard her refer to that at all) In any case, she has been holding steady for the most part with an oral chemo pill (Cabo-something, she just refers to it as Cabo) for just over 4y now.
