L is 3 today! He was so excited, this is the first birthday where he's really gotten it, so that was fun. We woke him up singing happy birthday with a candle in a pancake, and his little face was the BEST.
Leaving tomorrow for an out of town wedding where I'm sharing a cabin with my mom, my daughter and my aunt. I'm going to have to share a full bed with my daughter, so that'll be challenging. She's taller than I am! But, my aunt is 92 years old and doesn't want to stay in the cabin alone, so we're staying with her. I figure it's only one weekend. Plus, the wedding should be fun. My daughter has never been to one. This is the first time she's been invited. Everyone seems to be having all adult weddings anymore, which I find a shame. I get so much joy seeing the little ones dancing around during the reception.
I feel like crap. It's been a terrible week for my stomach.
DH apparently talked to the painter about exterior quotes on top of interior. And I'm like "ok what did you tell him, can you be here for the Friday quote" and he just kept saying "I said to do the trim outside." That doesn't narrow it down. And he says he can't be here tomorrow. So I asked if I should cancel and he didn't answer.
I'm guessing at this point getting the inside of my house painted this year is not going to happen.
Oh new HVAC comes tomorrow, again, asked DH if he wanted to be here for install, no answer. DUDE.
DS seemed like he was feeling better from whatever was ailing him last night. He has a random cough at times but nothing else. I wonder if he has some seasonal allergies because the pollen's really high here. We have another baseball game tonight to get through and he's well aware that he can't act like he did last night. So fingers crossed, I guess, I can't wait until it's over.
I requested a session with my former Teladoc therapist but I can't tell if she still works there or not. The system allowed me to request a visit, but instead of letting me pick a time like it usually does, it had me note my availability and then said I would hear back. I had originally stopped seeing her in January of last year because she had a baby, and had said she wasn't sure if she was coming back, so I wonder if this is a dead end. We'll see; I can always request someone else but starting over and explaining all my issues sounds exhausting.
I am in the office today and I am PMSing so bad. I'm trying to just sit here with my headphones on so I don't rage on someone for something innocuous. On a positive note, this is the last period I will ever have as my hysterectomy is scheduled for May 20th.

I helped FI's daughter get a very good job where I work. She works in a 100% different department, our work will never touch, and there's lots of related people that work here. But. Yesterday was her 3rd day and they sent her home after 1 hour because she said her back hurt. My anxiety is very high with this. I'm afraid that this reflects badly on me at work. I'm also afraid they may let her go, when I thought she was finally getting on her feet and making progress, and taking steps to get out of our house. She also ate a whole, 4 cup bag of mozzarella in less than a week, not leaving any for the meatball subs that I had planned for last night, so I'm irritated.
I'm just exhausted. Work has been spreading me very thin lately. I usually really like my job, but I'm definitely in a rough patch right now. Trying to keep up with anything outside of work is almost too much. I have an all day commitment Saturday that I would normally be super excited for, but right now it's just another day of being busy and I'm kind of dreading it. I just want a couple of days with nothing to do.

I am not sure if this is a short person thing or if everyone experiences this, but the base of my head is so sore because I got a haircut the other day and those sinks are harsh on me. 😂
Can someone explain how Rent the Runway works to me? I fell in love with a dress on there that I want to wear to a wedding this summer. I don’t think the 4 or 8 day rental will work because the wedding is out of the country and I’ll be gone for almost 2 weeks. I’ll want the dress at least a week before I travel in case I hate it and need another option. So - could I get a monthly subscription and then cancel after a month?
Alternatively- does anyone have dress suggestions for a summer wedding? Must be long and not green, per bride. I am tall- ish (5’8) and pretty ruler-shaped. Typically size 4-6. I don’t love showing off cleavage., but like patterns/color. I would like to spend less than $200 since I will never wear this dress again and will likely sell on Poshmark.
I hate how I can't call directly to the doctor's office I want to speak with and instead have to call a call center type place, explain what I need, get transferred (often more than once because they send me to the wrong place), and have to explain the reason for my call 3 times. I miss the days of direct contact.

As a provider who works in this model, I hate it too. However, the likelihood that I'm at my desk able to answer the phone is so low. I don't know a good solution for this, except to message via MyChart (or whatever EMR your facility uses).
beerlover, so proud of you for making the call! Good for you! I have been thinking about you.
Happy birthday to L in Chile!! emilyinchile What a sweet breakfast to wake up to when you're 3!
I am excited for today. My sister is driving from her town to my house. We are taking one of our brother's kids to her summer job (also out of town) so I will have THE ENTIRE DAY with my sister, and most of it with just the two of us! Can't wait.

DD wants me to eat with her at lunch today. I told her I would, but that I would have to call the school because I wasn't sure what time they ate lunch. Ten minutes after the start of school, I get a call from the school and hear "Mom??" on the line. Her teacher let DD call me from the classroom phone to tell me what time lunch is. She has the most amazing teacher this year. I'm so glad we got her before she retired.

Can you show us the dress you fell in love with? Maybe we can find something similar.

I don't even necessarily want to talk to the doctor/provider. I just need to make an appointment. Or get a prescription refilled. Or follow up on test results.

oh ffs, that's awful. Does your facility have a patient portal? you should be able to do all of that there, even with the worst EMR systems :/
Yay, it appears our dryers heating element is shot. I called the repair company we typically use and they had an outgoing message that they were only scheduling repairs for LG refrigerators at this time. So, I called the place we used before that place and they can come out tomorrow. I need to bring the load of damp clothes over to my ILs house and run the load through his dryer. I also really need to do another load, but I can wait a day. Hopefully they can fix it tomorrow and it’s not a big thing. Our dryer is 15 years old, so I’m debating if this is just a big waste of money and I should start pricing out new models.
ETA: Is it dumb to have a technician come out for a service call on a 15 year old Samsung? Google is telling me the avg lifespan of a dryer is 14 years. ETA 2: I bought a new one. It’ll be delivered by 2:00 tomorrow. The service call + potential repair was going to be at least 1/3 the cost of a new dryer.

Do you happen to have a clothesline? Or drying racks? Might save you the hassle in the meantime.
When it comes to a new one, I got a Speed Queen and I love it. It dries things really well and fairly fast, compared to my old Whirlpool.

brooke77, Highly recommend! The dress is gorgeous and I think meets your requirements! And it is on sale now at Macys and only $100! (I'm not annoyed about that... /s) I got so many compliments on this dress, it was pretty awesome.

followyourarrow, how old is FIs daughter? I thought I remembered that she is an adult but her behavior and complete disregard for others (you) makes me think that maybe she's younger?

She is an adult, 23, but she's on the spectrum so in some ways she doesn't think or act like an adult all the time. She can't always look ahead and see consequences.

They do use MyChart. All of DS2's providers are in a large hospital network, so I do understand the call center. But we're already an established patient, so I hate it.

Tonight is DS's Senior Capstone - "the complex history of bipedalism" - I'm so excited to listen to him - it's a year long project and he's been practicing his presentation all week in his English Lit class.
I leave tomorrow for 8 days - work conference in CA and then my nieces graduation in SC - so excited for her! just such a busy time!!

That makes sense and definitely makes the situation more difficult to navigate.
May-cember is starting strong! A writing celebration at DS's school yesterday, band concert for DD tonight. H's birthday Friday. Theatre tickets Saturday. Next week is another band concert and a meeting for our Japan trip. This month will either fly or drag - I can't decide which yet.
We're trying to figure out the best time to do a long weekend in Branson. Will it be a glamours dream vacation? No. But the kids love it and it's a good family time. I'm using so many vacation days for Japan that I don't have much leftover time to play with. I think I've narrowed it down to early July or to October over the kids' fall break. We went in late July last year and it was sweltering, so October sounds really nice.
I'm down 23 pounds as of this morning. Clothes I haven't worn in forever are fitting better (or just fitting lol). I'm feeling super cute today.
