I told myself that I'm going to balance out my Taylor Swift streams with smaller/local band streams as TS never has to work another day in her life, but a smaller band needs the plays. Any bands you like that you'd recommend to give them some streams?
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
ETA: they do have original songs but they also do a lot of covers. They recently did a cover each of NSync and BSB which the teeny bopper inside me loved.
My very favorite two little bands are Great Big Sea (ok, they are HUGE in Canada but have a small following in the US) and Carbon Leaf.
I spent enough of my life in Virginia, I don’t think of Carbon Leaf as a small band. Of course, they haven’t been near the mainstream, even there, in 10 or 15 years. Lol This also make me wonder if I know you in the real world lol
My favorite small, local band broke up in 2020, but was Melodime. Slightly bigger, on the scale of Carbon Leaf, is Red Wanting Blue.
I don't know how I've never heard them, but I'm going to listen a lot more. West of Seattle and New Hampshire are ah-mazing. Thank you!
I will check out the other recs too.
Forgot to add Roots of Creation if you like Regge/ska ish like music I guess is the best way to describe it.
Not sure if they're that small town, but I forgot about Jimmie's Chicken Shack until someone posted they're going to be playing this summer, so I'm giving them a couple of plays too, lol.

LOL. I lived in the DC area from 2000-2002, which is when I first found them. I'm thrilled to hear that they've blown up!

They are pretty small/local I think! New Hampshire is my favorite, and I love Verge and If I Die.

I wouldn’t say “blown up” per se. But, well know. In the indie music circuit. Sells out all the listening rooms Richmond to Baltimore. lol
